Let’s say in some hypothetical universe he hadn’t played for us - we’d still be bringing in a guy who has technical director experience PLUS 500-plus professional games including at Premier League and international level which puts him above all our coaching staff and players and should guarantee his voice is listened to. That seems on paper to be a vast improvement on Ricky Martin on its own. And in the real world, Walters was a key part of the most successful Stoke team for generations. So it isn’t surprising people are pleased. You're telling me you think that any other ex-pro, people would be looking at someone who did 6 months at Fleetwood Town and going "Yeah, that's the kind of experience we're after. Let's have some of that" Genuinely? If that ex-pro had spent half of his career in the Premier League and had more than 50 caps for his country, yes I think people would generally be willing to give them a chance for an interim appointment like this.

I think this puts to bed any theories that JC knows how to properly run a football club.

Statement by JC before the next match would be perfect and if it's a big endorsement for SS then hopefully the players respond Winning the next 3 matches would be more perfect 👍

Is everybody happy with that? I think it's absolutely the best decision we can make at this point. Ricky Martin quickly became incompatible for this football club and has overseen a toxic climate both on and off the pitch. I've never heard so much negativity about one individual from all off field departments of the club.. this soon translated to the pitch. SJW doesn't have the supposed track record and buzz words of RM.. however, he has huge passion for the club and real experience in the game.. These qualities may not translate immediately onto the pitch with some of the 'shower' element bought in.. but I can see the logic. He will provided much needed support to SS and lift the fanbase.. something we all need right now. Good decision Coates Junior.. sincerely hope it works.. N A good 'talking to' behind closed doors may help things along

Will it make any difference to the players and their ability to win games though? It will hopefully make the summer recruitment a lot better if the right person is selected as his replacement. Not necessarily, I'm sure that quite a few players that we approached didn't want to play fot AN, and I don't think players look any further than a manager.Hopefully SCHU will be a draw but I doubt it. We need to slow down and stop chasing the latest fad, in structures, managers etc. Success comes from picking the right people and helping them to get on with it. Whether it is a DOF or a Manager or a Head Coach you are appointing, the problem is the same, getting the right man. It took Liverpool 20 odd years, and others like Leeds and Forest a large number of tries before getting it right.

What a superb decision by jc to get rid of the used car salesman and to bring in sjw. it was obvious from the fans forum bash that jc has huge respect for schuey and that could only mean tricky being shown the door. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see sjw being kept in his role permanently either. So if we go down with Schuey in other words he would have made us worse then even if JC has a huge respect for him does that mean he will stay at being a relegation manager

His KPI's were not up to scratch - The Key Performance Indicator showed poor performance from his guidance leaving us near relegation so hopefully he fell on his sword without too much fuss and very little compensation.

It’s interim Anyone with the requisite amount of experience is already likely employed. Clearly big issues relating to Ricky that needed addressing. He has gone. The only way we get clear of the relegation zone is by sticking together. Walters will unite the fans for a start. 3 wins and a draw should see us right. Big issues relating to the club. He’ll be here for 4 months picking up a wage. If he’s not actually here to do anything, what’s the point? If fans get excited because a player who used to play for us is back at the club, then I don’t really know what to say to be honest. It didn’t work for Delap, Shawcross has done nothing, Walters was previously at the club. Football is the biggest positive discrimination racket around. I doubt he going to be doing nothing Fans are more excited at the fact change has happened. Delap was a coach. A poor one granted.

Why not try MARTIN O NEILL. He has played and managed at the top successfully. To me he would be head and shoulders above any of the other candidates that I have heard mentioned, and he is not famous for wasting money on players.

I swear this is absolutely true ... I just told my missus that Ricky Martin has been replaced by Jon Walters and she said "'I remember him, he was that mixed raced forward you used to have, isn't he?" Honestly! 😃 mixed race forward my arse. He’s Nigerian isn’t he. He sent me an email once. Claimed he was a prince with £500K to give away. I just had to give him my bank account details. Couldn't be arsed.

I wonder if SJW has been brought in to kick arse (see SJW's tweet a week or so back) rather than as a technical guru? What was SJW's tweet, missed that?? Don't do social media but was on here about the time that he was on Talk Sport talking about Roy Keane. Basically SJW did a Pottermouth battle cry about sticking together, Vis Unita Fortior etc. mate.
