I think we'll only get optimal results out of Walters if we employ Pulis too to stand at the door of his office and regularly shout 'Go 'oarn Jon!' at regular intervals even when the situation looks hopeless.

To me this is to try and get fans on side. He has no experience in this roll. If he hadn’t played 200 games for us you’d all be shouting and screaming. Let’s say in some hypothetical universe he hadn’t played for us - we’d still be bringing in a guy who has technical director experience PLUS 500-plus professional games including at Premier League and international level which puts him above all our coaching staff and players and should guarantee his voice is listened to. That seems on paper to be a vast improvement on Ricky Martin on its own. And in the real world, Walters was a key part of the most successful Stoke team for generations. So it isn’t surprising people are pleased.

Clever appointment imo, Saturday wouldn't of been pure negetivity from the stands from the off had this not happened. Big vote of confidance in Schuey too. SJW has previous experience in similar roles too, and a man who knows the club and won't let us go down with a whimper. Obviously the oatcake full of moaners, won't be happy until were sold to a dodgy business man and end up like Reading What previous experience has Walters had in similar roles ? Technical director at Fleetwood?

I'm still not against Dublin. He's come in and tried to improve our recruitment processes and found a couple of gems along the way. Still think more due diligence is needed before making some of these signings but still think he can have a positive impact at Stoke. This summer Dublin won't have to find a new squad, just 4/6 players to fill in our weak spots. I think he would have learnt a great deal regarding last summer and hopefully he'll put that into practice this summer. But I was impressed with how he came across and explained his reasoning on why we'd signed certain players. Just need his spreadsheet to consider the personalities of players now!

What a superb decision by jc to get rid of the used car salesman and to bring in sjw. it was obvious from the fans forum bash that jc has huge respect for schuey and that could only mean tricky being shown the door. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see sjw being kept in his role permanently either.

Is everybody happy with that? probably the best quick win the club could have done right in this present moment. Remove source of current toxicity - Ricky. Gee up the fans with SJW appointment

Good decision to bring SJW in IMO. Knows the club, most likely will know SS too so unlikely to unsettle anything. Hopefully he can steady the ship whilst SS guides us to safety and we can look at a more perm solution in the summer.
Would be interested to see Stoke do a sit down video with SJW though so he can talk through his previous experiences at Fleetwood and what he'll be responsible for at Stoke.

Is everybody happy with that? I can’t speak for everyone but I certainly am…the main thing is Martin going as it’s clear what everybody thinks of him…to replace him with somebody who knows what it means to represent the club and the city and has so much experience in the game can only be seen as positive in my eyes🔴⚪️

I sent a scathing email heavily criticising Martin to the club yesterday for the attention of JC. I've just received the reply below from Ant Emmerson. Remains to be seen if Martin is included on the "Senior Management" circulation. I guess we just have to keep the pressure up to try to get rid of Martin. Dear ...., Thank you very much for your email to Stoke City Football Club. The email has been shared with the Senior Management of the Club and they have asked me to pass on appreciation to you for taking the time to make contact and detail your concerns. Rest assured that all at the Club will be giving all we can to end the season as strongly as possible. Thanks again for your email and also for your loyal support. Very best wishes, Anthony Anthony Emmerson Head of Supporter Experience Nice one Deeside, seems your influence extends well beyond Wordle/Xordle/Sqword around these parts ! Can you send him another email asking him to lower the price of beer and pies in the Franklin stand please ? 👍

Great that Martin has gone ,the decision to bring in JW seems a strange one ,does he have any sort of experience in this type of role?
Unless it's something just to lift the mood of the club then that may not be a bad thing if it gets us over the line ,fellow Scouser and all that...

Is everybody happy with that? I think it's absolutely the best decision we can make at this point. Ricky Martin quickly became incompatible for this football club and has overseen a toxic climate both on and off the pitch. I've never heard so much negativity about one individual from all off field departments of the club.. this soon translated to the pitch. SJW doesn't have the supposed track record and buzz words of RM.. however, he has huge passion for the club and real experience in the game.. These qualities may not translate immediately onto the pitch with some of the 'shower' element bought in.. but I can see the logic. He will provided much needed support to SS and lift the fanbase.. something we all need right now. Good decision Coates Junior.. sincerely hope it works.. N

Is an interim appointment only
So many were moaning re Martin and now moaning that Walters has no experience
Certainly a crowd pleasing appointment and can't see a thing wrong with it as this moment in time

I wonder if SJW has been brought in to kick arse (see SJW's tweet a week or so back) rather than as a technical guru? What was SJW's tweet, missed that??

Do people actually think Martin has been picking the team? Nobody knows for sure but of all those rumours flying around that one was the most plausible. But we will never know if it was true or not. Clearly he wasn't liked by a lot of people though and his sacking was long overdue No more than daft rumours some took as gospel Same with the foreign players thing At least with Walters we cover the diversity issue on all fronts

MON should never have left and should have moved up stairs to DOF. seems made for that role Can I ask, what makes you think that? Going off purely his football management side he'd be awful, he had a set way of playing and didn't sign the right type of players for it (putting aside their ability), that doesn't scream out that he'd be capable of coming up with a long term strategy and implementing it properly. That statement alone should damn the rest of your comment. Personally,I think he would be a very good appointment, if we could get him. Working in very difficult circumstances he got 60 and 62 pts in his 2 seasons. Brought on young players like Souttar and Collins and brought in players like Philogene, Harwood Bellis and Doughty among others. He was an intelligent man which might prevent him from coming back. We need someone like him who knows about football not some spoofer. Hodgson would be great if we could get him. Some people on here think it is very easy to get a good DOF. Look at the way Brighton's staff are being targeted by the big clubs who aren't happy with the people they already have. One must assume that they made the wrong appointment, the last time they signed one. We now have Superstar Players and Managers, but how many DOF could you name?

Loving Super Jon - probably hasn't a fucking clue but at least he gives a shit. He’s has some exposure to that type of job though and tbf as an interim I think it’s as good as we could possibly do

Did I hear Huth right a last year at one of the meet the fans things that he was studying too become a director of football. Apparently that's the way they do it in Germany. The blokes got no experience but fuck it let's have him in the building Imagine if Germany were crazy enough to appoint an legendary ex player as National coach with no experience at all of management How would that end up? He's an interim appointment , no more
