I wouldn't have employed him in the first place and would never have wanted him to build a squad from scratch. We had a huge clear out then trusted him to create a new one which we will be stuck with . Do you honestly think he had a major part in the majority of these signings? I can’t see past Pearson, Johnson and Gooch who are all reasonable squad players (at minimum) in this league anyway. Vidigal probably not, as Dublin said he knew him previously but wouldn't have signed the player himself , be real. Let's not start going down that route of excuses for Neil. We had the ... not his players nonsense last season

I’m just pointing out that the makeup of the squad really wouldn’t have been that much different whoever was the manager.

A point here might actually give him a stay if exception , bad though it has been.

A point here might actually give him a stay if exception , bad though it has been. I honestly think the fact that this - and the next two games - are so difficult is the main reason he’s still here. Getting a new manager in with 3 losses under his belt probably would have been a disaster, so the least worst option was probably to let him stay and see if he could pull off a job saving miracle. My worry is what happens if he does ‘ok’. (Let’s say a win and a loss in the next two, if we get the point today). I think the urge to not rock the boat might take over in that case… which is a shame as there’d be 35 games to attack if they handed the team over to somebody a bit more inspiring in the next international break.

I was one of those, felt excited for the window and wanted to see how it panned out. I’ve now seen how it’s panned out. Time to go. He basically got a free pass last year from the majority on the basis that he was preparing to build a better side this season. I was also in the give him time camp but at some point you have to admit it’s not working and doesn’t look like it ever will. Ok, quietly moving back into the ‘give him time’ camp #ficklebastard

Could this be the big turning point? I think that's saved his job! His subs did it today, credit to him. He needs to show he’s learned from it and is willing to reward strong performances now, and we may just be alright!

Certainly made me look silly today.
Fair play to Neil and the players, there's absolutely no doubt that he's still got the backing of the squad after watching that.

Junior has to start the next game. We need the defensive balance he brings.

In the Coates’s tenure as owners (mid 80s to 98 and 2006 to present) I think theyve hired 3 successful managers: Lou, TP (2nd time) and Hughes. MON and Mills werent too bad for us but the rest either promised much but delivered little (unintended pun) or were just shocking They dont have a good track record at this sort of thing and its concerning Hughes? Wow. How can anyone think he was a good appointment. You serious?

Junior has to start the next game. We need the defensive balance he brings. Definetly. It allows Gooch or Leris free. Junior and Lowe along with the others we saw in the middle and upfront seem to be the squad. Does he learn? We shall see.

Massive Massive result for him today .
The big question now of course is can we build on it Tuesday or will it prove to be a false dawn ?
2 of his subs combined for the winner so he can have the plaudits today and deservedly so.

Delighted with the 3 points but 2-0 down after 15 mins is still a mega shit show. Zombie manager now. Back from the dead and bailed out by players he refused to play for weeks (Junior and Lowe in particular). He limps on to the next game. Let’s see how it goes next time. I am still far from convinced that we will get anywhere with this defence though!

I'd say more strolls into to the next game while sticking two fingers up but okay. Hasn't Lowe only just come back from an injury?

Plenty of managers would have been happy to keep it tight and go home with a point.

Can you play Sidibie instead of Laurent? He is a Stokie and will give everything on the pitch. Wearing the armband seems to give JL immunity from all kinds! I reckon the armband is kryptonite, slowly eroding JL.
