Of cause we are going to lose games, but I believe these players can & will win more games than we lose.
Unlike the squads we have had since relegation, I think this one is quite capable of going on decent unbeaten runs, Which in the long run helps us to be able to be thereabouts at the end of the season.
If the above doesn't happen this season, then at the end of this season is the time to judge AN, not after 4 league games with a brand new squad.

3 away games out the next 4 followed by 2 games against the promotion favourites: Norwich City v Stoke City Huddersfield Town v Stoke City Stoke City v Hull City Bristol City v Stoke City Stoke City v Southampton Leicester City v Stoke City He's got to get a tune out of the team particularly away from home or he could find himself under real pressure going into the next international break in 4 weeks time....... Can never predict anything in this league, but objectively, you’d think a max 7 points from that? Beat Huddersfield, Hull, one draw from the rest. Could easily be worse though.

Would he be under real pressure though in reality, even after a terrible run before the next international break?. How much time does the big reset by him to get it right?.

Would he be under real pressure though in reality, even after a terrible run before the next international break?. How much time does the big reset by him to get it right?. It'll depend on performances as much as anything. If there are signs that a turnaround is in the offing he'll get time, if we look miles off it then he'll be under pressure. As ever, if the crowd properly turns he won't survive it, even if the owners don't want to make a change. I don't think it'll come to that.

Especially given his first 12 months record and the performances notably ie we just cant seem to cope away with typical championship teams or as Preston showed at home very solid ones here at the 365 . From a club perspective he needs to produce some rabbit out of the the hat results if we are not to to be a proper crisis come the dark nights . From his point of view he has trusted in Jared and Ricky in a atypical trolly dash and it will be interesting to see do they stand anf fall together or is it a case of one of us has to go .

Well I don't agree, I think it's far from conclusive and too early into a new season to draw those conclusions. We've got a whole new spine, you just havn't give it time to adjust to new surroundings because your mind is made. For me Travers, Mcnally, Pearson, Burger, Wesley looks a pretty solid spine. People mention Mcnally and make the assumption we've gone soft at the back. Coventry fans loved Mcnally and wanted him back, they reached the play-offs with him playing. A fully fit Pearson is a pain in the backside for opposition, that's why Stoke fans wanted him, after him playing against us. Burger's player description is he gets stuck in as we've already seen glimpses of, Basel fans pissed to see him sold, he's 6ft 3 and worn the captains armband everywhere he'd played for, he allready looks like he wants to orchestrate. Wesley is a £22m unit that offers strength and link up play, Mmaee has barely even started. Oh and Travers is very highly rated, that's the spine you moan we're lacking. You're just not prepared to be patient for them to bed in as a team because your narrative is set in stone. Writing it off as you have as early have you have is ridiculous, not even two weeks after the window has shut ( or a week and a half) in a window where even the last day played a part. All you ever do is drone on about how bad things are, why do you even follow Stoke, where does your fulfilment come from? All thus " I travel 350 miles weekly" blah blah blah, absolute tosh, with the negative vibe you mass produce you'd be suicidal at the first traffic light cue, god help the passengers, theyd be addicted to valium by the end of the first half of the journey. It's not fair to others your constant droning.. Oh and now you've got a Junho, where if you actually attended the Preston game could clearly see he's going to gave no problem complimenting the new scfc spine. He looks a fine athletic player who will cope with the physical demands no problem. Alex Neil has completed two more promotions allready than you ever will and he's a young manager, no doubt still constantly learning. He's got over the line twice by scoring goals and winning games, that's a fact. Tje players he brought in look exciting and we have signed pkayers to play an attacking game with a sprinkling of flair, what more do you want? We'd do very well to better that record with anybody else. There is a hell of a lot to be optimistic about this season The only time Neil has had this type of money was at Norwich after promotion (a side that he didn't build) and it was a disaster. His overall record is average, he's another underdog manager. Attacking game? He basically shit the bed in our first two away games and went for a draw. He's done nothing in the game to suggest he can spend money and build a Promotion winning side at this level. I like some of the payers he signed, Burger, Vidigal look quality, but he's made a serious error in not getting a good centre-back and we need still a central striker. He also needs to get into Pearson because he is basically tossing it off. Unfit and a walking yellow card. Stoke City is a massive job - is AN up to it? Hopefully he is but I have my doubts. I just can't agree, this centre back thing, Coventry fans wanted Mcnally to go back there. You've said it yourself, Neil has never had this kind of money, but the players look like weve made to some good choices as you've said yourself. Why can't some people afford some patience, the players have only just met, theyve got to gain an understanding, you cant over staye the scale of changes made or the fact that it needed doing. The season is 46 games long. Surely any reasonable person can see this squad to a man is a hell if a lot better than last seasons offering. Maybe I'm missing something here, I like to look at things logically, massive changes in players + new squad + half of which from overseas dies not = hit the ground running like theyve played together for years and storm the league. If it does I'm going to have to question myself in a big way because I don't understand football orthe mechanics of it, at all. It's just completely unreasonable to expect so much so soon, surely? We're going to be hit and miss right upto Christmas I'm sure but I'll bet you now we're not far off if not in or above midtable by Christmas. By then the players have got to know each other and I fully expect a stronger second half to the season, again because I'm thinking logically. You must be able to understand these players have been selected to suit Alex Neil's game right? You've said yourself and I couldn't agree more, a good fair few of these players look encouraging. Mmaee, Vidigal, Wesley, Burger have scored allready. What we need now is time to gel as a team, as a reasonable person you can't Judge Neil on last season with that shower and use them stats to slate him in September after massive changes, it doesn't make sense, at all

There is no doubt that he has to up his game, his game management, tactics, formations and decision making has been found wanting this season as it was last season. We've won 2 out of 5 in the league and for over half the game time looked very second best. The players will take time to gel but thats part of his job and why he gets paid a substantial salary.
Transfer wise it went very well in most areas but the lack of cover at full back and central defence is, at the very least, baffling. His stats are very mediocre and it is right to to take last season into account, a good manager should be able to get a tune of of players he inherits, results picked up after he brought some of "his" players in last season (the blip) but soon tailed off into a spineless and very poor finish which was par the course generally.
If results don't come he will be under pressure as every manager does, and rightly so. He's been backed by the board, now it is time to deliver.

I remember them well and am happy to take them out. I was responding to Biscuit, who very much was counting the cup games. Either they count or they don't, people can't factor in a cup defeat (that hasn't even actually happened yet!) while pretending the cup wins don't count. Either they're all counted, or none of them are. Taking the cup results out, the statement that there's 'very very little evidence' to suggest we'll get anything in our next few games is still clearly a very silly statement from a very silly man.

All i'm hearing is that AN is proven at this level. He really isn't, other than jobbing along with Preston achieving bollock all. I don't get why we aren't allowed to question last season. He had zero impact bar 5 games. The rest was worse than the bloke he replaced. He's come in and tripled his money and basically tossed it off. We've lost 3 games already, 2 of which comprehensively seen off. As he said himself, Ipswich was a massive shock to him. Wtaf??? It's just one excuse after another. He has to produce a promotion challenge this season - he will and should be given time of course but time waits for no man.

Call me old fashioned but I'd rather we stuck with a manager who has achieved two promotions after we've just made wholesale changes and made some brilliant looking signings. I could understand a few twitchy people after the players have played together for a couple of months but I honestly didn't expect it so soon, shocking support that. If I was a player reading this board I'd be wondering wtf have I done coming here. Of course they have to get an understanding on the pitch, that goes without saying. It baffles me that people expect so much so soon, half of them have barely got off the plane yet, they're adjusting to a new country, a new league and new team mates whether they've been head hunted to compliment each other or not.

Would he be under real pressure though in reality, even after a terrible run before the next international break?. How much time does the big reset by him to get it right?. Every manager should be under pressure to get results. I don't understand why AN is getting a relatively easy ride. For me its the manager merry go round. We've had Rowett and Jones and MON. When is the last time in the past 6 years we have gone on a really good run and won 4 in a row. I've started to think it doesn't matter who the manager is we seem to be cursed to stay in the championship for eternity. Im not in love with Alex Niell at all, but im really not sure any manager could do any better at Stoke at this time. Sounds completely defeatist I know. Maybe if we looked abroad for the next manager it could change. This season will be mid table under any British manager I feel.

I might be imagining this but this season's results and performances eerily mirror last season, win the occasional game in style then get beat by an average coach and an average team. So the backroom staff have all been fired and replaced including the first team coach (gallagher) and recruitment. The players are different only 3 remain starters from last season, but it feels like dejavu, all over again so what HASN'T changed and is the one constant from last season? Sorry no prizes for the correct answer

Making subs after 30 mins and 4 at once is a sign of a manager who is already getting things terribly wrong with the players he has and not sure what to do. Is a great squad there for the right man , he simply isn't it. Makes more excuses than some on here

Of cause we are going to lose games, but I believe these players can & will win more games than we lose. Unlike the squads we have had since relegation, I think this one is quite capable of going on decent unbeaten runs, Which in the long run helps us to be able to be thereabouts at the end of the season. If the above doesn't happen this season, then at the end of this season is the time to judge AN, not after 4 league games with a brand new squad. you can judge after 15 or 16 games this season

Tough run of fixtures coming up thats for sure. Which makes it all the more disappointing that we took zero points from the last 2. Reallistically we shoukd have been looking at 4 points from Millwall and Preston.
Then again I remember us taking 4 points from Burnley and Sheff u following the Watford humiliation last year so you never know. A big 2 weeks for Neil is this international break

Since Benji was minded to 'chuck in Bournemouth away' I assumed those were the rules we were playing by? Do you not remember the regular "1 win in 9", "3 wins in 17", "9 wins in 26" threads under MON? The FA Cup and League Cup wins were deemed surplus to requirements............. "8 losses in 12 league games" "2 wins in 12 league games" Oh wait nevermind, wrong manager.

Our centre backs will get absolutely ragdolled by Ashley Barnes and Josh Sargent. Saturday could be a thrashing and he'll be under pressure then.
