Ennis played (and started) games as the main forward in a front three for Plymouth last season. he shared striking duties with Hardie, but whilst Hardie started 7 more games, Ennis scored 3 more open-play goals. No reason we can't get the best out of him again if we put Million on the right and one of either Vidigal or Hakšabanović on the left, more inverted though to create more of an attacking threat. My understanding of their season last year was that they operated as a 3421, with two central midfielders playing as much more advanced attackers in a central role. Ennis has also played in that central, second striker position last season as well. I don’t think that it’s similar at all to what we have tried to do with a 433. When Blackburn have tried to use him, they employed him mostly as a solo striker with wide attackers and he’s been quite poor. His Blackburn career amounts to all of 300 minutes at a level he’s not played at before. It’s hardly a body of evidence. I’d hope he’s a stop gap and will become a squad player once we’ve made room for a marquee striker signing in the Summer. He’s got just over 3 months to stake a claim to be more than that.

That's right, a front three with two attacking midfielders/inverted wingers behind the forward. Ennis can play as one of the AMs as well, but he only started three times in that position last season. His job is to be the tip of the forward line and score goals. In our setup, the AMs have been more like wingers - too far from the striker and leaving him isolated. That's why Wesley has been reduced to being a giant rock stuck in and around the penalty area, and why Mmaee hasn't scored goals either - he's a lazy bastard but he would have scored more if opportunities were made for him. No reason we can't play with inverted AMs in a 4-3-3 either. I hope this is what Schuey is planning for Million, as he looked more dangerous on the right when playing in Holland, even though he's left-footed.

pretty strong stuff, im glad a manager is finally calling them out on this, if he works hard and gets back into the team we as fans know he has earnt his way back and truly deserves his place and we can get behind him, although means we are stuck with another Saido Campbell masterclass this weekend

Nice to see the manager clear up the matter. I am not convinced he's the only one, wouldn't surprise me if Baker has not been doing it in training, hence his demotion to the bench..

Good! Sick and tired of player power and taking the cash but not being willing to do the work required.
Why aren't we doing the homework on these players before spending the money? There is more to scouting than sifting through an FM2024 database and watching YouTube compilations.
This guy already had a reputation if you dig enough.

Anyone else behaving like Mmaee would be training alone as well. Even if some players want out at the end of the season they know it's not a good look and know the manager isn't going to pull his punches. Schumacher is doing the right thing here.

Good for Schumacher. We’ve had a decade of too many pisstakers at this club going back to Prem relegation season and Jesé, etc.

I completely agree with any manager that stands firm on his "non negotiables "
Saying..."He has been told there is a way back if he is willing to show the right attitude". ...that's all well and good but, when hes been told they want to sell him. Infact the majority of the team find out the club are open to offers for any of them, it's not great for morale is it really? Certainly not great team building and definitely not profressional

We need people to bleed red & white in order to move forward! We will get nowhere moddle coddling prima donnas.

This news just makes me very sad. The club has been run like a part time hobby by the owners since the demise during Hughes regime. The rot started then bringing in player after player who has proven to be utterly useless (e.g. Wimmer) or had a rotten attitude - the list now seems endless. Who is in charge of scouting these players? Who checks out their character? Don't the club check people out thoroughly before they commit £millions in transfer, loan, and wages costs? Everyone makes mistakes but you would have thought the club learned its lesson with Palacios, who was baggage we had to take to get Crouch. But we have bought a host of dead beats since buying Imbula for £18 million, from Porto , who couldn't get rid of him fast enough. Only to be followed by £12 m for Berahino. (Pulis had a good laugh no doubt.) Rowett was allowed to spend £50 million on dross and loan two aged has beens from Everton. Having used up all the spare cash from the Prem years we have to sell our best young talent to bring in either aged players well past their sell by date, or young foreign players totally unused to the rigours of the Championship. It took years and years in the Prem before eventually committing to fill in a corner. Our IT is second rate, catering has been lousy at times. As I say, it just makes me weep to see how badly managed the club is from the top. (Rant over. )

Hmm it all smells like a team heading for relegation- sorry Could you expand on that then mate? Not to answer for them, but think it's fairly straightforward. It doesn't indicate a harmonious dressing room, does it, which is exactly what we need at a time like this? On the one hand I want to say "well done" to Schumacher for not putting up with the shit, but on the other, it just feels like a mess. I really hope we've got enough to see us through, but we've replaced Mmaee with Ennis. He might fit the manager's ethos more and if it works, then brilliant, but I just think it's a huge gamble.

Smacks of weak management to me. Banishing players to the kids rarely ends well, and it's the easy option. All it does is open the floodgates for any other player that wants an easy run to the summer.
I listen to Warnock a lot and wonder how he got the most out of a complete loose cannon in Taraabt at QPR. A player who regularly walked out of or missed training whenever he felt like it.
Good managers work with players, find ways of motivating them for the good of the team then get rid when the time is right for them, and the club.
Mmaee is our best chance of goals between now and the end of the season. Absolutely no good to us in the stiffs.
I'd love to know if this kind of behaviour went on under Neil or is it a recent change?

He is damn if he does, damned if he doesn't to be honest. Some posters just can't wait to wade in and bash the manager. Yes he got it wrong last week, but that game apart, we matched every team, but been way too wasteful in front of goal. I enjoy the football under SS, more than I have for quite a while, get a few results and see where we are come the end of the season, now lets all remain positive with 3 very important games ahead.

Another hopeless signing then... fuck me someone needs shagging for this. How many players have we got "excited" about over the last few years only for them not to be just truly wank, but also piss-taking, money grabbing bad apples. Bet he couldn't believe his luck when we went in for him. Fuck me Stoke.

He was singing Bakers praises not long ago He was Mmaee's too. I don't believe Baker is being punished though for anything more sinister than a poor game against Birmingham. I don't think we should be going round accusing players on mere supposition. There are plenty of others who have been dropped - Pearson, Mcnally, Bae, Campbell, Wes, Gayle, Leris, Haks, Vidigal, Hoever Bonham. Are we saying they have all been breaking the rules?
