sports.news.nate.com/view/20230823n02680[Sports Seoul | [Reporter Jung Da-Woo] Another European faction was born. The main character is Daejeon Hana Citizen's 'Phantasy Star' Bae Jun-ho (20). According to multiple officials familiar with Daejeon and Bae Jun-ho, Bae will transfer to Stoke City, which belongs to the English Championship (second division). The transfer fee exceeds 2 million euros (approximately 2.9 billion won) including options, and there is also a 'sell-on' clause to receive a portion of the transfer fee that occurs in the event of a future transfer. His personal conditions are also good, and Bae Jun-ho will receive a wage several times higher than his current salary in Daejeon. Currently, Bae Jun-ho's side is conducting last-minute personal negotiations with Stoke City. If the transfer process is completed within a day or two, Bae Jun-ho will leave for England to sign the final contract. Whether or not to participate in Jeonbuk Hyundai on the 25th has not yet been decided. Stoke City is a well-known and traditional club among domestic soccer fans. From the 2008-2009 season to the 2017-2018 season, it belonged to the English Premier League, and after being relegated in the last season, it is currently in the second division. As of the 2023-2024 season, they are in 8th place with 2 wins and 1 loss in the first three games. Bae Jun-ho, who made his name known on the professional stage by joining Daejeon last year and helping the team promote, received attention from scouts from multiple European teams through the U-20 World Cup held in Argentina in May and June. At that time, Bae Jun-ho was active as a key player for Kim Eun-joong and boasted fantastic performance. He was injured right before the tournament and was not in normal condition, but he emerged as a star by showing off his excellent skills. Thanks to this, not only Stoke City but also multiple English Premier League teams showed interest in Bae Jun-ho. Inquiries about Bae Jun-ho poured in from most of Europe's top leagues, including Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, and Turkey. Among them, Stoke City was the team that showed the most sincerity. Stoke raised the transfer fee on as many as four occasions and made official offers. In this way, a transfer fee of more than twice the initial offer was confirmed. It is known that manager Alex Neil, who leads the team, also requested the recruitment after checking Bae Jun-ho’s video. After putting in the last proposal, a Stoke City scout official visited Korea and watched the K-League 1 match between Daejeon and FC Seoul held at the Daejeon World Cup Stadium on the 13th. At that time, Bae Jun-ho played a big role as a substitute in the second half and scored a goal, leading the team to a 4-3 victory. It is rumored that Stoke City officials also reaffirmed their confidence in Bae Jun-ho. In fact, agent Bae Jun-ho had doubts or concerns about Stoke City. Stoke City has had a strong image of a 'man's team' since they used bold football from the past. In the past, he was famous for his play style consistent with the 'kick and rush' style of English football. There is a high possibility that this type of team will not suit Bae Jun-ho. Bae Jun-ho is a fantasy star who exerts influence when he has the ball as a typical technician. He needs to play possession of the ball as much as possible to show his ability. He was important as a team style because he had a goal to improve by playing as many times as possible, not just aiming to advance to Europe. He left for Europe in July and August and went back and forth to England, Italy, and the Netherlands to focus on finding the right club for Bae Jun-ho. Stoke City assured that the team is changing in the system of Neil, who took over last year. It was explained that recruiting a player with the style of Bae Jun-ho was also a rough sketch to complete delicate football. Nonetheless, agent Bae Jun-ho, who had concerns, flew to England and watched all three Stoke City Championship matches, confirming that the scout was not wrong. The support of the Daejeon club and parent company Hana Financial Group was also a factor that made the transfer easy. Recently, K-League teams do not allow players to transfer to Europe as easily. Bae Joon-ho is also the most important player on the team and the most popular player. Stoke City's proposal is not a bad condition, but the contract with Bae Jun-ho has 3 years and 4 months left, and as the team's signboard, it took time to think about the match. However, the Daejeon leadership and the parent company allowed the transfer for the future and future of the player. The transfer fee came out at an acceptable level, and since England is a big stage, we decided to put Bae Jun-ho's growth as the top priority. The most important was the decision of Daejeon coach Lee Min-seong. Bae Jun-ho, a mandatory resource under the age of 22, is the core of the team's strength. It was an important period of fierce competition for the Final A, but Lee decided to let Bae Jun-ho go. It was a possible choice because he thought of the player more than himself. Coach Lee said, "Of course, from my point of view, it's better for Junho to stay." Junho is a really talented player. He could be a much bigger player. He is right to go to Europe. Isn't it meaningful to create a European faction in Daejeon Hana Citizen? I hope Junho will go to Europe and grow into a player representing Korea.” He left a message of support for his student. weo@sportsseoul.com

sports.news.nate.com/view/20230823n02680Another European wave was born. The main character is Jun-ho (20) of the “Fantasy Star” of Daejeon Hana. According to a pluralist versed in Daejeon and Baejun-ho, Bae Jun-ho is transferred to Stoke City, a member of the England Championship (2 Burrig). The transfer fee also includes the provision of “sell-on”, which exceeds 2 million euros (about 29 billion won) with options and receives some of the transfer fees that occur in future transfers. I love the personal conditions, and Bae Jun-ho is now paid for by several times the salary he receives in Daejeon. Seems very specific hope it happens looks like he’s got something about him. The new Son.

It’s the cover for every discriminatory comment ‘it’s just a joke.’ I hope that if we sign him, he is welcomed without offensive racial stereotype ‘jokes’. Makes us look very provincial and small time. The club will appear less attractive and we won’t sign the best talent if we can’t overcome this. I think to a certain degree Stoke (as a city) will always be provincial. Low education levels and poverty, it is dire a mix. Doesn’t mean we have to embrace it or not try to improve.

I also like that despite early reports saying he wasn't too keen on the move, we've shown clear intent (upping the bid 4 times and flying out to watch him play) and have managed to sell some kind of vision of the club and his own future to him and his agent that has opened him up to the idea. it's like on FM where you keep turning up at a player's matches til he wants to sign for you 😄

Who knows?
But compare this sort of signing to those just 6 months ago, it’s night and day. Fair play to Jared Dublin: it’s one thing using European markets, but to use an Asian market, spend £2m on a player who yesterday turned 20, is well and truly stripping SCFC of its previous transfer redundancy and lack of creativity.
How bloody exciting.

I’m trying not to get my hopes up re anything at the minute but what a transformation it is even if this lad doesn’t arrive.
We needed a new squad pretty much and they’ve gone out and done it/are doing it.
Absolute madness and a strange feeling after years of the club doing exactly what you think they shouldn’t be doing to doing pretty much exactly what you think they should be doing.

They’re becoming much more lenient with allowing people to skip - they ask that they win something on the international stage for Korea. So if this lad is any good, you’d hope Korea can win something international to give him a reprieve. If not, he can delay for ages anyway
