Yeah it was clear it his the post to everyone but the radio stoke commentator who said it hit Leris 🤣 so I think the only ones blaming him are the ones who listened to the radio. He was in no way at fault for that. He even repeats it when he interviews AN in P&G. Has he not even looked at the replays.

Was he, I didn’t think he looked very good. Little idea offensively and players seemed to beat him defensively quite easily. What game were you watching??? Millwall vs Stoke why what did you think he did particularly well?

Wrong thread mate, Hoever went off first half This is the Leris thread He looks a vulnerable as Hoever defensively and I doubt the output offensively. Hopefully he’ll have to battle with Hoever for the RB slot whilst Campbell plays Wide Right Forward. My main concern was him being given that gig with his lack of output. Am I being whooshed? This is surely a piss take?

This fact he is the only one saying he was bad should tell you all you need to know about his opinion on it.

Simple question then what did he do that was particularly impressive? Got beaten defensively a few times and didn’t do anything outstanding offensively.

Got beaten defensively a few times and didn’t do anything outstanding offensively. Got forward pretty well, I thought. Most of our play came down that side. Given that he is new to the team and that Campbell has barely kicked a ball this Summer, I think that’s impressive. Comparing output in Serie A to the Championship isn’t going to be that informative. The vast majority of top Championship players would be nothing in Serie A. Anyone with Campbell in front of him will struggle defensively. They never get help.

As a RB surely you’d want one who’s more defensively able than Hoever and as a Right sided forward his output would have to increase massively not just a bit to be a credible pick.

I think he’ll turn into a good right back for us to be honest. At best, we have Hoever until the end of the season. If he does well, he’ll be playing for Wolves in January. I think that he’ll adapt well to the Championship. It will be easier than coming up against people like Abraham and Chiesa every week. I believe that someone did mention that he could play centre midfield. I think that would be an interesting one. In an old school team, I’d have him play right midfield.

Need to watch this again in slow mo. Either way it's a fook up or just unlucky. The ball hits the post then what??? It's unlucky. It rebounds off the post at some force and just hits him. Not a chance in hell is anyone on earth able to control where it hits you in that situation

I thought that it looked like he was running in to tap it in at the back post but then thought it was going straight in so left it... It hit the post but he was 6 inches away from it so didn't have time to react. May be wrong though when I see it again

I liked him, great little toe when their lad got through near the end. Wanted the ball and wanted to be involved. Maybe could’ve got the tap in but it was all very quick & possibly just got beat for pace on it. Positive though for me.
Can take a quick throw in as well, throws it to feet and then has the audacity to ask for it back - not seen that for a while down Stoke.

What did he do particularly well? I wasn’t in the ground because I don’t go to away games. Is it only people that do that know what they’re watching?

Maybe make the question a little more simple what is his strength attacking or defending. He didn’t seem particularly good at either in that much improved team performance. Almost epic, really? FFS.

You could describe DJ as direct skillfull loads of energy and competes well for the ball but there is no output or killer ball. How many players can we play who offer hardly any output. Play him RWF with Wes and Vidigal with DJ as the most advanced midfielder and you’re relying almost exclusively on Vidigal to provide the output. Put simply it’s a shit plan.

Based on 45mins I can confidently predict that Hoever will be shitting himself. I would stick Leris at RB and let Hoever fight with Campbell over who plays as the wide man on the right, either as a winger or attacking midfielder. Looks like AN has plenty of options to choose from. Everyone will have a part to play.

Yet Millwall player/s went past him with ease, so you think they’re the best wide players he’s going to come up against at RB. If we were signing another RB it should have been a more defensive type to perm with Hoever to suit the game situation and opposition. The only bonus in him playing RB is him not playing Right Wide Forward.

Vidigal's output was nothing to write home about at previous clubs but he's done ok so far. Leris' stats don't look great but they are mostly at a higher level than we are currently playing and against much better defenders. At least give the lad a chance before you write him off.

That's a fair point. I can't say I had any expectations of him (Vidigal) whatsoever. I can however say I liked the look of him from the off and the same with Burger as a better example because you can't just say well it's because he's scored a few goals. I'm wasn't overly keen on the Leris signing and didn't see anything to change my mind yesterday, I'm not sure what he's been bought in to do and think we'd have been far better off with a specialist FB or wide forward. I have no choice in the matter I have to watch the players the manager selects, my observation on their performance or attributes is meaningless other than for the purpose of conversation
