First off the atmosphere was amazing yesterday from Blocks 37/38 and it felt like the Bear Pit of old.
But a problem continues from last season in 37. Last season there was a nest of pigeons under the roof and interior floodlights. Which one occasion would crap on people below.
Arriving yesterday the stairs and seats were covered in bird sh!t which is obviously not good but could be worse for anyone having a small child in that area.
Can’t the ground staff do something to try and prevent this (spikes)? But is this a problem in other areas of the ground.
Surely the minimum is the area could be cleaned prior to the turnstiles opening?
Naturally if Malcolm Clarke can possibly pass this on or who is the best person to contact, but I believe emails have been sent in the past. It’s not a moan just more of trying to be pro active and see if the issue could be sorted?
Hopefully it doesn’t go in the Shit Bin 😝

They at least removed the nest from above the area that was present at the end of last season!
In fairness the club do have a chap who comes and flies his hawk around the ground too scare the sky rats away

The pigeons were definitely crapping on some supporters during the match.

Sitting between the Boothen and the South Stand and you can just hear two sets of fans singing usually out of time and it makes it so hard to join in. Like the time to go when their man was sent off. It was inaudible shite.

It’s not a moan just more of trying to be pro active and see if the issue could be sorted? Hopefully it doesn’t go in the Shit Bin 😝 Have only just seen this. Will do. I have had an immediate response from the Club. The Head of Facilities responds as follows “I have every sympathy with supporters who experience this. We spend an extraordinary amount of time each day on the lead up to every match and on a match day prior to supporters arriving on seat and terrace cleaning. We have tried sonic deterrents and have bird scarers fitted but we can’t use the scarers during the match and the sonic devices don’t seem to have much effect.
We also have the Hawk Man in once a month and I’ve recently been here when the Hawk has caught pigeons but unfortunately they just come back.
Believe me if I could resolve this tomorrow I would do.
Please tell supporters that we are constantly looking at ways to deter pigeons and other birds from entering the stadium bowl. We take this problem very seriously both from a spectator safety point of view and for our poor cleaners who have to deal with this on a weekly basis”.

Am sure this has been considered, but pigeon spikes can stop the nesting? These are recommended by the RSPB as one of the best methods of control.

Thank you Malcolm, since my post, I believe there has been contact with the club. Even so it wouldn’t harm another mention, I sat in Block 28 on Tuesday & there is a big difference with the cleanliness there in comparison to 37/38.

When I lived in Sunderland the council played a recording of a hawk on a loop to keep the bridge clear of pigeons. Think that’s a standard fix so maybe it’s been tried

Simples...
