We need him back and firing on all cylinders as he remains our best striking option by a considerable distance. Problem is he's been firing on three for a long time now.

He is though. Tell me what he's good at, and please don't say pace. One on finishing finishing generally for Championship he's most definitely not 'average' However given his flaws don't see him as pl quality either Pop Campbell in a decent mid-table Premier League team at his best and with suitable players around him, and I'd back him for 10 goals.

He's brilliant at cutting the ball back once he's got past the full back. For me, he needs to stay out of the build up as much as possible. He needs to be either played in behind or we need to get him up against an isolated defender.

Just wondering if we can allow him to stay and run his contract down. It's madness for Championship clubs in the FFP era. Judging by his insta story, he'll be back before September though, so maybe a sale is feasible? Do his performances last season really merit a big transfer fee though? Debatable! Yeah, it is debatable. Difficult to really comment without knowing his actual contract status, if there've been fruitless extension talks, and the level of interest in him. But wouldn't be massively shocked if one of the relegated teams or a bottom 1/3 Prem team thought £4-5m wasn't the worst gamble in the world, and you'd think we'd have to go for that kind of bid. Maybe he's got his eye on a (relatively) lucrative free agent move next summer? The numbers that were rumoured at the time of his new deal seemed on the generous side, so doubt we'd get anywhere near them now. There is a slight chance we've got a 12-month option which makes it a non-issue (although given he signed a very lengthy 4.5 yr contract, it's probably unlikely) And if he is entering the last year, and we're not close to an extension, we must be very open to a sale. Whether we'd accept something lower than £4-5m - and what kind of move/salary he thinks is realistic for him, who knows? Wouldn't have thought Championship clubs can allow assets to just walk away in the every-penny-counts FFP age though. He'll be practically worthless come January. There's talk of us adding at least one (maybe 2?) more wingers and another striker - and as he doesn't seem the type Neil would consider giving any minutes down the middle in a 4-3-3, it's got to be on the agenda as we tick towards September.

I’ve liked Campbell but it does seem that every time he gets rolling, he gets injured. He’s 23 and has been playing regularly for the club for 4 seasons. The only season he’s looked better than average was the 16 games in 2020/21.
He should do a lot better with Wesley in the side. However, he might not. If he doesn’t want to stay and there is a team willing to spend £3-4 million on him now, I’d be okay with that.
It’s possible that he has a lot of potential but we need players who are going to be more consistent.

He doesn’t necessarily have to be, he draws defenders to him, and his link play (on the deck) looks tidy so far all that would benefit Ty greatly, as indeed it should the other forwards

I can’t agree with that. I thought he won every 50-50 he was near versus Ipswich. However, a target man is more than a flick on. Being able to stop the play, change the direction of the play and pass a ball in front of a moving wide man is equally as important in a 433. I think he does that excellently.

Hopefully a move for JPB is called off under the idea we can keep Campbell? Would be a silver lining.

The thought of a front 3 of Vidigal, Wesley and Campbell makes me very happy...
Great balance of pace and power. Workrate...not so much but here's hoping the goals would make up for it.
Get campbell and vidigal going and they could be the difference.

Have we got an option to extend his contract by a year and cover our investment if he does go ? We might not have a choice. We don't know if the Club received any offers for him or if its even a decent offer. Might be better to risk him going on a free and see if his goals fire us up the table

He's got all the attributes necessary to make it a standout season if he gets his head and body in the right place.* * hopefully we can get his contract situation sorted out, although the longer it goes on the more likelihood there is that he's intending to go on a free.. something I hope is not the case as he's quality.

I’m surprised that Jacob Brown has more Championship goals than Tyrese, admittedly by 1 having played more games. That’s what we’re dealing with though, an injury prone player who is good when fit, which isn’t often enough.

Given how desperate they are for a striker, I can honestly see them going crazy. Just wait till their fans find out he hasn’t played as a number 9 all that often 😬

I’m sick of hearing about this guys potential. The old “if he stays fit he’ll score twenty” or “he’s premier league quality”. Now he’s got some competition let’s see how he deals with it. Hope he does but I’ve got massive reservations. And before anyone asks I’m not a rich Native American😉
