Three weeks ago I started to paint my first oil painting ever. But there is a problem. I wanted to move the painting and continue with it in another room, not in the kitchen as it is now. It's a deep edge canvas and I've painted on the edges too.
Why doesn't the paint dry? How long will it take?
When reading about it I found info saying it's the oxygen that makes oil paints dry. No oxygen at my place?
🤔

Keep the windows open, wrote mtrstudent in another department. Hmm. That would be a change. I'll try that tomorrow. I don't smell them. This is in the kitchen. It might take longer for them to become dry there?

I used to oil paint as a kid, but hell knows what I did with the paint -- I was taking art lessons, so maybe the teacher mixed the oils. Anyway, this may help, but you may need to start over: Oil, Volume, Weight and Pigments

Try adding a medium like liquin to your paint when mixing on your palette

Maybe defect paint.

Hmm. Looked at the painting from July 2023 again. The white and yellow oil colours are still wet as water.
Why? It's been nine months since I made it.
Thanks for the advices. I might go to the paint shop and ask someday. Ask for a medium.

It sounds much like the experience of watching Stoke the past few seasons.

Those paintings never become dry these say Yup, definitely has all the hallmarks of divine intervention.. Maybe you could rent a public space and charge people entry to see this miracle? If that doesn't take off maybe just charge people to look at it whilst it dries? I've heard so many people say 'I'd rather watch paint dry', there must be a massive untapped market 😉

Sounds like you have been using anti vandal paint.
At least it will stop the neighbourhood yobs from climbing on it.
