Why 1 year I wonder. Seems really strange It’s not like he’s in his 30s He did his acl when first arriving at Villa and hasn’t done much since even in Spanish div 2 last season. It’s on him now to prove himself. Great business by the club.

1 year deal is a little strange for someone his age? Bit of a risk signing? I think we’re being used a bit aren’t we? And that’s fine tbh if it works. And if he doesn’t he sods off after a year. Happy days. He’s a player with obvious pedigree, but had had a horrid couple of years. One year deal probably suits both parties, and if it works well, we can always try and sort a deal. If it’s a disaster, then it was only a year and the gamble hasn’t cost us a fortune. I’d rather sign him than Stewart, who’s going to take a couple of months to be fit.

A mate’s just pointed out that signing him permanently on a one year deal means we aren’t losing out on a loan spot in the squad for him either, which seems…smart.

Why 1 year I wonder. Seems really strange It’s not like he’s in his 30s It makes total sense. Had a bad acl injury after he signed for Villa. Last season he was out on loan and played 33 games so no issue with his injury now. This will be a case of Stoke covering their backs. 1 year to prove himself and if he does you'd imagine an extension is available. If he doesn't prove himself then we aren't stuck with a player on a long contract. It's a very smart deal

Any mention of a fee? IF there is one, a 1 year deal means it all goes against FFP now.

Brazilians don’t sign for Stoke. This season is certainly going to be a lottery, some of these signings are proper left field.

No silly long term deals for players who have something to prove. It's no risk for us, if it works I imagine there is an extension. If it doesn't he is instantly off the books. Hard to fault this one Especially as tezgel is unlikely to be available for a few weeks

Big, powerful, strong CF. Excellent. Let’s hope he is over his injury woes. 33 appearances for Levante last season suggests they are. Although the less said about his goal scoring woes the better. Still it’s another sign of intent by the recruitment team

One year deal's a strange one (on the face of it) but obviously seems to suit both parties. Also keeps our loan slots available for others later in the window.

We finally sign a Brazilian and he's a big lump called Wes.
Hopefully a shrewd signing.

Gut feeling think he will be a success even as a battering target man. Like the 1 year prove it deal as well good for both sides.
Like the contracts were handing out this summer!

If he’s shit he leaves. If he’s good he may leave or sign a deal. Either way we are not lumbered with a dud for a long contract. It sounds like a master stroke to me Couldn’t agree more and about time we got some good deals in the clubs favour. Could always do an extension if both parties agree

We’re actually going to have players to turn to when it’s 0-0 after 60 minutes this year aren’t we? 😮

Another thought as well…with the attacking options we have at our disposal now:
Vidigal Chiquinho (for now) Campbell (for now?) Brown Gayle (for now?) Tezgel Mmaee (?)
and Neil talking up the target man role as being a solution to some matches rather than all, it makes sense that this isn’t the one to spend big on. Remember in May, we were after Ashley Barnes - it’s that type of role.
I’d have loved Keinan Davis tbh but this frees up what’s left of our budget for more key purchases. Hopefully that will be Tchamadeu and a centre back.
