I can't remember any politician in my lifetime talking more common sense than this lady does in this ten minute video. Absolutely brilliant ๐๐๐ She's trying to make up for her past record of locking up predominantly black people for minor weed convictions whilst admitting she'd smoked pot herself. But fair play. Never too late to see the light I guess.

Cannabis is a schedule 1 drug in the UK, medical cannabis is schedule 2 (since 2018).
Part of the definition of a schedule 1 drug is that it has 'no medicinal value' (apparently cannabis doesn't as stated by Theresa May whilst at the same time the husband of her Drugs Minister was growing it for medical purpose ๐คฆ)
Given that cannabis is um.. cannabis, I feel sure I must be missing something here ๐ค

Magic Mushrooms showing promise for treatment of Alcohol Use Disorder, only a small study but promising results - 'Conclusion: Our results support the assertion that psilocybin increases the malleability of self-related processing, and diminishes shame-based and self-critical thought patterns while improving affect regulation and reducing alcohol cravings. These findings suggest that psychosocial treatments that integrate self-compassion training with psychedelic therapy may serve as a useful tool for enhancing psychological outcomes in the treatment of AUD. So we have one substance that evidently has a pretty high level of disorder use and another substance that has barely any level of disorder use. The one with the lack of disorder use can potentially help people with their problems with the other and yet it's illegal. Lunacy. ๐คก

www.askapol.com/p/rep-lou-correa-on-biden-admin-and'Ask a Pol asks: โI hear that the DEA might move to reschedule cannabis next month. Have you heard that?โ Key Correa: โNo, but I hope that youโre right. I hope that thatโs right. They gotta reschedule it absolutely,โ Correa told Ask a Pol. โFor a hundred different reasons. From the public safety perspective, from the societal perspective โ that this should not be a criminal issue โ and, of course, there are some medical properties to cannabis. Needs to be studied, and can you imagine the opportunities presented to universities that can begin to study cannabis for its medical properties without fearing losing federal funding? Gotta do it. The horse is out of the barn, you canโt put it back! Genie is out of the bottle!โ

Today text tv-news wrote that the Swedish Tidรถ parties (=our government in Sweden plus the supporting Sweden Democrats) have decided to send foreign people away. Not only if you have commit any sort of crime, but also if you for instance are a drug user of any kind (maybe they see personal drug use as a crime also, so it's just a detailed explanation of what crime is ...). These people have no right to be Swedish citizens and stay in Sweden. I think they've made it clear now. It's a sharpening of rules, who are included or not in the sending. This was in November and now we begin to see it happen. Edith: I forget the question. Above, they must surely mean people actually seeking asylum and haven't become Swedish citizens yet? I don't know. It's from the Swedish text-tv this winter and it never tells in detail or normally reveal the source. FYI: drugs = narcotics, in Sweden. Always. Q: if a person travels to England and says he/she wants to work there since he/she has a University degree and plans to become a citizen - can that person ever become a citizen if he/she uses cannabis or anything else, and commits it?

More News Today from the Promised Land
The government let an investigation some time ago decide if they should broaden the definition of "drug user", and more precisely what shall we do with the ones using laughing gas or nicotine?
They will start with a prohibition against laughing gas. Noone up to 18 will be allowed to buy it at all. However, two units can be bought by an adult on exemption if you can show why you'd use it, the reason must be accepted by the government.
They will also forbid nicotine 100% in all schools up to 18 years of age. Good luck with that!
These are only their first steps though. Who knows, they might want to forbid nicotine products all the way sooner or later.
Some want to forbid ecological food since it contains more poison they say, but it hasn't gone through on national level.
This weekend it was revealed our Liberal Party, The Liberals, had a proposal years ago that they wanted to forbid alcohol!! I had no idea. Never heard of it before. Must have been when they were named Folkpartiet (The Peoples Party). I'm not sure the people would have accepted that ...

Just a thought... There does seem something of a hurry to get it done, the big hold up at the moment appears to be the DEA dragging their heels in rescheduling it. Hopefully they'll become as irrelevant as they should be in due course, they've caused far, far more problems than they've solved. There's also a few Reefer Madness Republicans trying to fight legalisation at every step, probably got mates working the rehab scam. With the majority of Americans now wanting legal recreational cannabis any policy to come down heavily on it will hopefully backfire spectacularly.

An obvious solution to me would've been to enforce a 20p deposit on each one, I'd have walked around picking them up myself ๐ I found it remarkable that all the litter caused by various beer cans, empty spirit bottles, discarded takeaway containers and chocolate wrappers, all items that previously contained far more harmful substances than laughing gas, weren't and aren't an issue ๐คฆ

It was on Swedish tv news shortly today as well. Their focus was that the Police force and The Medical Association had both protested loudly! It had to do with their professional knowledge within their fields. You have to assume they mean all the tragic brain injuries and corresponding increase in crimes then, since that's what they always complain about. The Swedish tv news presentator looked to be almost throwing up at the sight of the stoned cheerful germans. ๐คฎ

On the face of it you'd think so but decriminalisation doesn't provide any protection for consumers or any age related restrictions amongst other things, no tax income is another. The 'legacy market' will make full legalisation a difficult and lengthy process in most countries, a lot of consumers have their supply lines already in place. Decriminalisation would obviously be preferable to what we currently have but full legalisation should be the aim overall.
