One of my favourite parts of our transfer windows is how often the word monitoring is mentioned alongside us. Granted a lot of teams will monitor situations obviously, but when we are desparate for signings, just seeing the word monitoring is annoying

Mike McGrath (Telegraph) Birmingham are preparing a bid to take Dion Sanderson on a permanent deal after impressing on loan last season. The 23 year old has also attracted interest from Sunderland and Stoke City are also monitoring the situation. Monitoring 😂 Does that mean we've sent a tentative bid via carrier pigeon to Molineux?I expect so. What else are we going to do until we train a school leaver to operate the Fax Machine?

Appreciate the need for ensuring we get the right players in but we need to start making moves soon, given the numbers needed
Cov and Norwich have already picked up decent free signings….Dasilva and Stacey

Doesn't sound like there'll be a massive spending spree at Birmingham due to their FFP tightrope. www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/birmingham-city-eustace-transfer-plans-26999121Wagner’s arrival will not pave the way for a spending spree this summer. Due to Blues’ precarious Financial Fair Play position, deals must be done with the utmost caution. That is why low-cost, low-risk transfers, i.e loans and freebies, remain Blues’ best bet. If there is a bit of money to spend, as was the case with Tahith Chong last summer, Eustace has three loanees in mind. Dion Sanderson, Auston Trusty and Krystian Bielik made sizeable contributions on loan at St Andrew’s last season and Eustace would love to bring them back. All three will have other suitors, that is undeniable, and Blues will have to join the queue. The trio occupy three prominent positions in Eustace’s preferred 3-5-2 formation. Sanderson and Trusty as quick, physically excellent outside centre-backs and Bielik as the destructive, ball-winning force between two box-to-box number eights. I think if there's a player available named "Trusty" we should be seriously looking at him!

Well if you were a Pigeon, would you go near Wolverhampton if you could avoid it?

The rumour now is that the pigeon was being sent to Molineux on trial, having failed to make it at Stoke. Considered to be overweight, and although it had a good straight line speed it was quite slow on the turn. Also it seemed to have a distinct preference for being "at home" rather than away!

Being O'Rourke would suggest there's definitely something happening re this. I wonder if we've had some kind of hint that he'd be interested in us over Brum.
Is he an imposing centre half or is he of the Wilmot mould?

he does look absolutely mint to be fair, strong, commanding, good at bringing the ball out, eye for a quarterback style progressive pass, tidy footwork tick tick tick

Didn't look too bad in the air from the Youtube clips above though!

Generally positive reaction from the Brum fans when their bid reportedly went in www.smallheathalliance.com/list.php?1,page=4 Loads of potential, good physicality, the right age, statistically good for us last season. Good investment for me. Right age and mentality build for the future = good signing around 1.5-2 mill He is a decent age and could see his worth increase. We therefore need to be careful as plenty of clubs in the Championship could shell out £1.5 to £2 million in one hit to secure him. I suspect a fee of that size and his likely wages could be a problem for us sadly. Great investment for me, bags of potential, all the attributes to be a top, top defender, and he absolutely loves it here so I hear. Apparently told his agent et al he isn't interested in going anywhere else. Doesn't seem a monster in the air though - which'd be a slight concern if you paired him up with Wilmot. (although we may need 2 more central defenders, even if he comes, so the pecking order is anyone's guess)

If there is any truth in this that would be very interesting too Cant see us getting both and that wouldn't make much sense especially with Bonham and Fielding re-signed.

Is he an imposing centre half or is he of the Wilmot mould? More imposing/physical than Wilmot but along those lines not an ideal pair as we would lack a good header of the ball however we need 3 new CB's probably so would be a start edit: dealing with Wolves might be a theme this summer they have FFP issues so shouldn't play hard ball for their fringe players

I'd mentioned Sanderson a year ago as being a good loan option before he went to Blues on loan. Have always rated him as a defender from seeing him in his loan spells against us for other clubs & see him as a Tyrone Mings type of defender & could work well with Wilmot. He's had two loan spells at Birmingham City so you'd guess they'd be in with a good chance if he likes it there but perhaps a fresh move to us could be what his career needs.
Sanderson will hopefully see we gave his club mate Hoever a good run in the team and his loan spell with us was certainly a productive one, & that Sarkic may also put a good word in for us.
Be a good signing me thinks if this link comes to fruition

No way are we signing Begovic... His interview on a 'Cold Wet Tuesday' podcast was interesting*, as a couple of times towards the end he said he would love to come back 'either as a coach or as a player' or words to that effect He may, of course, have been flattering us given that it was a SCFC podcast but he has a clear affection for the club *it was probably a while ago

Rangers sniffing around regarding Bego. Isn't Butland to Rangers virtually done? Or are they trying to recreate the Stoke goalkeeping department of 10 years ago

Sorry admin i should have posted the Beggo thing in the other general thread.
Back to Dion, I think this would be a brilliant signing, perfect age already looks to already have some real quality with plenty of room to develop & work on any weaknesses(in the air or otherwise)

Is he an imposing centre half or is he of the Wilmot mould? Wonder if Blues’s new investment has stalled? If so we’ll be offering him considerably more in wages. Slightly further away than Brum but geographically we are still a good proposition (not that that comes in to it much these days)

Sanderson looks,to me, as though he could be developed into a strong "Holding Midfielder". With some work done on his short-range passing know-how.
