Going to try and get in the team at Saints next term. Good luck you had some good moments for us, thanks!

It’s his boyhood club so fair enough, He’s definitely replaceable. He’s had some really good games this season & others where he’s been really quite & missed a lot of sitters. He’s bound to score against us next year though!

Won’t be missed, about 6/7 good games out of 46. Shame really because it was only a month ago I was thinking I’d maybe like us to sign him after the March spell we had but since then he’s back to the nothing, not arsed player that he was before then.

He's had 1 good game in 10 and is one of the reasons why we are in the position we are in. Mr transparent can go and be transparent elsewhere. Let's hope for someone who can grab a game by the scruff of its neck. There's a famous quote from someone on here, can't remember who: Thanks for nothing now **** off 😂😂😂

Apart from the odd game he's been poor. Doesn't create anything, just plays simple 5 yard passes. Need something better in that position he's plays. Someone who can run with the ball and have a bit of vision. Sounds easy🙂

Not a big miss really, lost count how many times he’s shirked away from a tackle then failed to track back, passenger most games along with many others may I add.
Truthfully 9/10 times you don’t know he’s on the pitch apart from his abysmal corners and free kicks.

I think that was pretty obvious given the way he downed tools in the final weeks once he got his Ireland call up and received some praise from the Southampton manager.
He knew he'd achieved his objectives for the season of gaining valuable Championship experience and proving his credentials to his employers at Southampton. He had nothing left to achieve at Stoke, we were neither in playoff contention nor relegation trouble so he's turned it down and tried to see the season out without getting injured so he can be fit and raring to go for Southampton.
Ultimately we need players that want to be here and have their full attention on Stoke. So thanks for your contribution this season, particularly during the purple patch that saved us from relegation. But if you don't want to be here, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Thank you for your time Mr. Smallbone, but now we need a big prick for that position. Don't get a stiff neck about it.

His best highlight is Nige calling him Smallpiece.
Turned up for a few games and then hid again.

Quite frankly, he has been as much a part of this season's problems, as the many others. Not consistent enough, terribly ineffective in scoring positions and part of a mainly misfiring midfield. Maybe a bright future beckons but he is a long way from the finished article. Surely our super new ace recruitment team can find better, he said with fingers well and truly crossed.

Tidy footballer who had a few good games for us but nowhere near enough. Good athlete and good at the high press but unable to influence a game and passing range poor. Finishing pretty shite too. So thanks for your efforts and good luck for the future, can't fault him for wanting to play for his boyhood club, but by no means irreplaceable for us.

Well you all seem to saying he is shit , so why aren't we slagging the guy who has picked him week in week out ,when Baker is a better player.

For me he's improved massively as the season developed. Bearing in the mind the players around him I think he did a good job for us - in fact one of those I'd credit for keep a poor squad up. Baker is only interested in playing AM, certainly can't cope with high press, great shot on him but doubt he'll be with us next year

Improved i.e. actually started to put the required effort in late into his stay and backed way off the gas once his reputation at home had been secured. For that alone he wasn't one of the loanees I was hoping we'd sign.

Smallbone is a relatively young player learning his trade, so the argument about his inconsistency doesn’t make sense to me. He’s only going to improve and become more consistent; and we’ve seen that his top level already is one of the best midfielders in the division.
It makes sense if he wants to go home and forge his way into the Southampton team (especially considering they’re probably getting relegated and will likely be one of the strongest teams in the championship) but if we somehow acquired him permanently (or even another loan if Southampton somehow survive) it would be an awesome signing. He’s the sort of player you sign other players to accommodate.

Thanks for nothing Will Now Fuck off! Just thought I'd resurrect this as there's quite a few players I'm happy to attribute it to this season. Here's the first of many. Gouranga.

Overall id keep him if we could. First season and I think he has done pretty well
We have to remember he is playing as a young man in a poor side with huge expectations on him. Like Harwood-Bellis I think he will kick on next season and become a very good player
From me, its thank you Will for your efforts and lots of luck at Southampton

His only real asset seemed to be his "legs to die for", as Neil put it. He's got the physique of a Mo Farah or a Steve Cram - and his running numbers must be off the charts. Distinct lack of goal threat and quality though I don't think there were many who would have had any complaints if we'd been able to send him back to Southampton in January - and subsequent to that, there weren't too many great moments, were there? I remember Neil giving this interview in February, just before our (and his) brief purple patch - and people were still a bit baffled by it. www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/stoke-southampton-transfer-will-smallbone-8159492“I think Will Smallbone, in my opinion, is a completely underrated player. If you look what Will brings to the team, his legs are to die for, he’s unbelievable in terms of the amount of ground he covers in a game. When he’s not there is when you recognise it the most. So, aside from Cov, Sunderland and Boro (3 games which played into our and his strengths), I'm struggling to come up with much of a case. Admittedly, we (and he) did really look the part in those games - and maybe 2 other games at most - but it's not a lot to go on when our and his weaknesses have been so evident in pretty much every other game we've played, specifically at home against teams who shut up shop, where he doesn't really seem to be part of any solution

He would have had a good few assists but for our piss poor strikers, but it's Baker who has the potential to be a top AM with proper management (which atm is non existent).
