Much as I've been impressed with Stevens so far, I'm not sure how we're expecting a 33 year old to cope with the rigours of a 2-games a week season. What's the plan there? The attack looks more than decent. Same for the midfield. Our lack of effective back-up for keeper, centre back and left back could bite us on the bum I think. Hoever played as much at left back as he did at right back last season didn’t he? There’s enough options at full back imo.

I seem to remember Stirling doing more of the left back cover, but I could be wrong.

I’m not even sure why we’re worried boys. I’ve seen enough in the first 4 games to think, yes it’ll take time to gel and it may not even be this year, but we’ll be up there sooner rather than later.
Everyone is missing a leading CB and ST…. But there is a reason. They cost £15m each. I think we have enough to be better than in recent years.
My expectation…. Top half finish and I’m happy. Progress

Fair to say the recruitment team stepped up to the challenge of a full rebuild in 1 window. Superb effort.
Dare say it was an extra CB away from being a 10/10 window - but sounds like we just fell short.
If we wanted to dip into the free agent market to plug this gap is there anyone of any notable quality knocking around (aside from Tuanzebe)?

I think we'll drop unnecessary points from not having centre backs who can head away a cross.
And we've gambled in the key positions of centre back and striker.
I like our approach and the signings we've made so I just don't get it, why we didn't finish the job and sort the spine of the team.

Credit to the club for handling this summer, which could have been chaotic, really well. A solid plan and a clear recruitment strategy.
Now for the real work. I’m confident of top 10.

Some hard work by our team this window, let's hope it all gels in the dressing room and on the pitch over the next 8 months and we have a great time this season and many more after. Let's face it, it couldn't get more boring than the last couple of seasons.

This has to be a 9/10 window.
The only position I worry about is the attacking spearhead in a 433; everywhere else there are able deputies.
I still think this is the year.

Hats off to the recruitment team, to bring in so many players and completely transform the squad is some effort. Shame we couldn’t quite get a 4th CB over the line. Wouldn’t surprise me if they’re waiting for Tuanzebe to maybe lower his wage demands or seeing if we could get anyway else in before offering him a deal. Will be interesting to see over the next few days/weeks if we bring anyone in on a free

Overall very happy with the transfer window.
I’m not that surprised we haven’t signed another striker because whilst someone like Thomas-Asante would have been good we’ve got plenty of options there.
I do think a CB was a must have though and I’m a bit worried about going until Jan with the options we’ve got.

It's been a brilliant and eye opening transfer window, all things considered. Players signed from all over the world, with no exotic stone left unturned.
It's natural to always want a bit more, and in an ideal world a LB, CB and CF would have been added too, but on reflection I suppose LB is the only area we are really stretched.
We have competition elsewhere throughout the squad, and plenty of reason for optimism.
It's a brave new world!!!
GK - Travers Bonham
RB - Hoever Junior Gooch
LB - Stevens (Junior?)
CB - McNally Wilmott Rose (Burger?)
DM - Pearson Burger Thompson
CM/AM - Johnson JunHo Laurent (Baker, Sidibe?)
WF- Vidigal Campbell Leris Helsabanovic Jojic
CF - Wes Maee Gayle (Campbell)

What a brilliant window. I don't think there are very many of us that expected it to be so good. Personally, I thought it might take a couple of windows or more before we achieved the transformation and the club and people involved must be congratulated on their incredible work. We didn't get everything we required but I'm certain that they tried; that's football transfer windows and fair play restrictions, for you, I guess. There's still the possibility that we could plug the CB hole with a free agent but I think there's enough versatility in the side now to cope to January if we have to. Well done Stoke.

I'm giving the window an 8.7.
Positives:
+Wouter Burger. I know it's early days but he looks like the blueprint of a midfielder. He can tackle, shoot, and calmly play his way out of trouble. His positioning seems solid and crucially, he can pass. Forwards. I swear these used to be basic attributes required to play midfield in the 90s but maybe the naivety of youth deceives me.
+Bae Jun-ho. My biggest and only axe to grind with Neil was the misuse and subsequent release of Powell. Well, now, hopefully we have replaced him with a very exciting young prospect who was turning a lot of heads way above our station. Axe down.
+Tymon sold for a profit. I'll fess up to having what might, in this day and age, be described as a bit of an agenda on Tymon. In the sense that I couldn't 'unsee' his limitations or allow his occasional brilliance in the final third to mitigate them. A shame because he always gave his all and he is on a very exclusive list of our players from the last half decade or so who I would not love to kick. I'm just glad I don't have to spend 90 mins a week tutting at him now.
+Brown sold for profit. I liked Brown and I think we'll miss him in some nuanced ways. But he polarised the fan base like no other player I remember and, let's be honest, he was flawed technically. Also, if Mehdi is supposed to be his replacement, it kind of feels like an upgrade. Right?
Some other positives:
+McNally looks a player. +Campbell retained. +Vidigal. +A healthy stock of wingers/wide forwards. +The abolition of the dullest and most archaic scouting/transfer system in the football league.
Negatives:
-The fourth CB or lack thereof. Yeah, I do like Wilmot and yeah I know he seems to always make it into the Team of the Week and stuff. There is just something niggling at me saying that we need a wizened old hard man who hates the world, has no teeth and has scars on his scars to play at CB to get us out of this God forsaken league.
-Jordan Thompson is still here. I hate being overly negative towards our players but Pearson dropping out of the team for the inevitable 17 matches whilst banned is a glaring weakness.
-Another window goes by where haven't signed anyone called Clint. You need a Clint.

Powell was the root cause of our teams apathy - well rid I think there's much more to it than that. The owners, Tony Scholes, all the managers from Hughes to MON, some of the backroom staff and many of the players have all contributed to our demise. Powell was one of the least of the problems.

I'm basing my love of Burger on 45 minutes watched on a stream tbh but I really want him in the engine room and not sat in front of the back four. But yeah he would probably be the better option. But that makes Thompson even more redundant. So still a negative that he's still here imo.

Feels weird after the TP days of stockpiling centre halves to be short there and have wingers coming out of our ears…
It gonna be fun though!
