I think I can spot 2 Stoke City players at the time, 2 players who went on to play for Stoke City and 2 future Stoke City managers. ![England Team](https://media.gettyimages.com/id/113857620/photo/the-england-football-sqaud-at-their-hotel-prior-to-the-international-against-yugoslavia-at.jpg?s=612x612&w=gi&k=20&c=iNX0_H0uVWXhTBKLgmcWnhLMmMdfaquzxS-eR4CuQwU=)

(centre half at Coventry and Arsenal in the late 60s early 70s).

Is this an ageist thread? I didn't want the kids wasting their time on Google maps trying to find this strange country called 'Yugoslavia' 🤔 I’m 42 I’ve been to Yugoslavia and have good knowledge of football. Although in your immortal words “I must admit, I’ve never heard of them”!

The one next to Nish is John Richards. John Richards was a top player. Unlucky not to get more caps.

Little story about John Richards My cousin fell off a bridge over a railway line in Scholar Green in 72 hitting the overhead lines electrocuting him , he was a Wolves fan , as he lay in a bed of oil suffering 80 to 90% burns in hospital John Richards went to see him , made his day , sadly he died a few days later , full respect to the man

4 Left Backs is a bit OTT Mills, Nish, Lampard and Pejic? No wonder Pej struggled to get caps Mills and Nish were right backs weren’t they? You made rethink there, but Mills played nearly all of his career at left back, occasionally right back (in fact I think he only played right back for England, not for Ipswich because Burley was their regular right back. Nish was also definitely a left back, I don't think he ever played right back for Leicester or Derby. (I think Whitworth was Leicester's regular RB and Webster was the RB at Derby when Nish was playing) They might have been played out of position for England though. edit: just seen the team sheet and Mills did in fact play RB for England in that game with Lampard at LB. Very strange! Always a LB at Ipswich. They should have picked John Marsh as a natural RB. He really should have played for England imho

Yep, amazing really. I'm also surprised that there was such a thing as 2 subs back in 1972. Looks like Yugoslavia used 2 subs in this game 2 subs wasn't introduced in England until 1987.
