Thanks for posting that! That flick! Type of play that gets a bar named after you. (And justifiably so)

“Although the previous 4 seasons had seen stoke in the top 6 at this stage” that can’t be true surely?

The flick from Mama for the 1st No player in the history of the game has been better than Mama in the Mama position. It's worth listening to John Parkin on his experience of playing the Mama position.

Possibly my favourite Stoke player ever. We've had better and more important players but if he wasn't as brittle I'm convinced he would have played for the European position teams.
He could be frustrating as anything, but he was a proper entertainer and even his petulant moments were great.

The flick from Mama for the 1st A massively underrated player, it is a cliche but no one could play the role (Mama Role) as well as him. That system didn't function so well when he wasn't in the side.

That WBA win was when I realised we actually had a good chance of reaching...... the play offs! 😀

Ricardo Fuller made Tony Pulis' football watchable for a big chunk of Pulis' time here as our manager.

Ricardo Fuller made Tony Pulis' football watchable for a big chunk of Pulis' time here as our manager. Regardless of so called “watchable” football I’d love to see our current crop putting in a fraction of the effort of a Pulis team. People go an as if we’re playing attractive football ATM, when in reality we’re a very poorly run club with no identity and extremely poor on the pitch.

Always remember that game because I'd had a car crash on Dividy road at 4am, chest/ribs were in absolute bits and trying to celebrate each goal was fucking agony.
God bless that man though!

I've not heard anyone say we are or have been playing attractive football since the early days of MON's reign to be fair, so I'm not sure why you've said that.

Sorry not having a go at you, it’s just when I watched the video thought I’d give anything to press the reset button even if it meant boring football for a while. What’s on display now is shocking and I can’t see we have any plan let alone the personnel to improve us both on/off the pitch. Merry Xmas bud 👍

No player in the history of the game has been better than Mama in the Mama position. We're still searching for that mythical beast, "Mama with goals".... Messi is probably the closest but he doesn’t have the great man’s strength, power and heading ability.

50 years ago today, we lined up against a very strong Derby team as we continued our battle against relegation.
We were boosted by the return of George Eastham from South Africa who provided the leadership we had been missing since the sad injury to Banksie and age and injury catching up with ‘Pierre’ Dobing. Waddo had also, inexplicably, allowed Mike Bernard to leave for Everton during the summer and our midfield had really been lacking. Waddo put his faith in a young Stuart Jump who never really realised his potential.
A good crowd of 25,000 turned up on the weekend before Christmas and we raced into a 3-0 lead by halftime with Big John netting twice and Puffer Hurst adding the third. Jimmy Greenhoff added a fourth to complete an impressive 4-0 rout.
Although there were to be a few more ups and downs during the season, we were now looking more comfortable and the pressure on Waddo eased. Eastham was a huge factor and although his appearances were sporadic his presence at the club gave everyone a lift.
Looking back, he should have been a fine manager and yet things never worked out for him.

You never really hear him getting spoken about in comparison to Richie, Greenhoff and others. Also whether you know but what was the reaction when Waddington sold Richie to Sheffield Wed the first time around?

Also whether you know but what was the reaction when Waddington sold Richie to Sheffield Wed the first time around? Stoke fans never rated Geoff. His best days were behind him and I suspect that is why West Ham let him leave. There were also the rumours he was on a very large wage and so expectations were perhaps a little too high. I don’t recall much sadness when he left us for West Brom. As for Big John, he had been ill (TB?) and there was a feeling he wouldn’t return to his former levels. Imagine Tyrese Campbell leaving now. Let’s hope Ty returns to his previous levels like John did.

Also whether you know but what was the reaction when Waddington sold Richie to Sheffield Wed the first time around? As a 9 year old kid it was the worst thing that had ever happened in my Stoke supporting life. I was devastated. Seeing him turn up in a Sheffield Wednesday shirt (and scoring) for the next couple of seasons just rubbed salt into the wound. Have still not really forgiven Stoke for selling him.
