Madness! Madstock 98 at Finsbury Park was amazing! Wembley Arena '99 was amazing too. Feeder were good live when i saw them as they were supporting Stereophonics few years ago at NIA. They were actually miles better than the Phonics. You cant beat Madness Live though!

supergrass! were they good? i went to see them in birmingham but got too pissed and got kicked out. Yes! From memory I had both the kids with me and it was on a side stage at Leeds, the kids were quite small and had a big blow up sofa. The gig was fairly empty because everyone else was at mainstage so the kids were almost sat at the front on the sofa and everyone let them through lol. They were good, not something I'd have seen through choice but I think my husband wanted to see them so we went. Im very jealous you saw Floyd Wizzard, would have loved to have seen them

I've seen Floyd a couple of times..the first gig I ever went to was Pink Floyd at Bingley Hall Stafford, when they did their 'Animals' tour..I was only about 10 and was awestruck by the number of pantechnicon lorries they shifted their equipoment with...about 20 of them...huge containers The highlight of that particular gig was near to the end when they performed their Animals track (Animals..Animals..Animals..etc) and all of a sudden this huge pink pig appeared at the back of the hall and came floating down to the front.. Amazing..pure theatre!

Amazing..pure theatre! Im guessing you are older than me ;D I was an only child and my parents were dead against me going to gigs, so I was 15 before I managed to sneak off to see Maiden at the Viccy Hall.... Soon as I was older though and had a little more money that was it and I started to make up for what I'd missed. I still love going to The Sugarmill, yes, its full of kids, but you do get some cracking bands on there. I go with my Lad, who strangely doesnt seem to mind taking his mad mum haha As for Floyd, the first record I bought was brick in the wall, then I went more towards Motorhead as my cousin was very into them. I think I was about 9 or so, so I started quite young. When I got into high school my Physics teacher gave me a copy of Dark Side of The Moon and that did it. I would have loved to see them live, as you say, very theatrical. I did meet Nick Mason once, I used to Marshall the old Lombard RAC at Trentham Gardens and he was in some race there with one of his classic cars, but thats as close as I got

I was only 6 months old when I first saw Floyd ;D
I used to go to Manchester a lot, late 80's early 90's along Whitworth Street (10 minutes from Picadilly Station) usually to The Hacienda, when I was really "into" dance-music.
That scenes dead now like dance music which is regurgitated dross (whatever that means ;D)
The only venues I go to now are Keele/Staffs Uni- which are full of kids and the occasional trendy 40 odd year-old
Still, there's many a fine tune etc ;D

absolutely no doubt about it for me...
FOALS are the best live show i have ever seen. especially back in spring/summer 07 when they were really really going for it. theyve gone off the boil recently, but you would if you had played the same songs over and over for 2 years.
best gig i have ever been to though - KLAXONS/SHITDISCO/DATAROCK at the underground in autumn 06. fucking incredible. i have never seen 150 people go so mental. klaxons were unbelieveable before they got big and started playing at these big venues.
its a shame that as more people cotton on to bands such as klaxons and foals that they have to move on to these big venues, it kills the show.
also of mention:
BLOC PARTY OASIS BATTLES

Pulp were amazing every time I saw them. Especially at Sziget, Hungary 2001. Some others stand out: Rage Against The Machine (New York, 1999) Smashing Pumpkins (London, 2000) Onelinedrawing (Brum, 2002) REM (Glasto 99 & Brum, 2005) Beck (Glasto 99 I think)

Seeing any bands at festivals or crappy outdoor performances doesn't count.
Sadly this type thing is on the increase because bands make so much money and can't be arsed to tour their album. However, it is not a proper gig experience.
If corporate sell-out bands can only be bothered to play this type of concert, then if I'm arsed I'll watch the dvd. And it'll be knock-off copy at that. Less of a queue for the bog, for a start.

Didnt the Macc Lads play on top of Unity House? Anyhow, best live band. For atmosphere, Levellers at Viccy Hall, Suede at Viccy Hall. Oasis at Trentham Gardens, James (in the Rain...) Alton Towers. Not in the Potteries. Texas at NEC, Depeche Mode NEC.....and LoopTroop in Leiden!
