It is a sad day when supporters can no longer enjoy the excitement and euphoria of their team scoring a goal without the fear that some sadistic, party-pooping jobsworth who is viewing a video monitor will somehow contrive to find an obscure, subjective and questionable reason to disallow it. As a passionate football supporter I welcomed the introduction of VAR as a means for eliminating blatant injustices but the way it is being implemented is killing the game.

If it was restricted to clear and obvious mistakes that'd be fine. The marginal offside decisions are ridiculous. There isn't a football fan around who wouldn't accept a "too close to call" decision one way or the other, eg that Ecuador v Qatar goal.
I've no problems with the right calls being made for holding but they must be consistent, and that's the problem. As long as they are consistent, players will stop doing it. And that means having the balls to carry on making these decisions even when it's 0-0 in the final in the 89th minute.
Consistency is key.

Officiating has been brilliant for me.
Time added on brilliant.
VAR decisions (watched Qatar Ecuador, England Iran and Argies Saudi) have been absolutely fine. Questioned the Ecuador offside and the England penalty in real time. Turns out VAR got it spot on?

By getting decisions right and cutting out the time wasting by adding it back on ?

I hope they bring the time wasting protocols into our game. The whole "game management" piece (basically wasting as much time as possible) is gross, it ruins the spectacle that we pay our hard earned money for.
If the ball is out of play or someone is rolling on the floor, the exact seconds should be added on at the end. Either that or pause the clock.

By getting decisions right and cutting out the time wasting by adding it back on ? Exactly it's refreshing to see the timewasting being cracked down on. I think the var works if it's consistent which it definitely was not in the England game yesterday as we had a clear peno not given first half only for them to get one second half for a similar but not as obvious offence.

He added about 6 minutes onto the 8 added minutes at the end then.
Rightfully so as well. Saudi player went down in the 92nd minute and got stretchered off the pitch in the 98th...

We had a thread recently on how annoying time wasting is and how little time the ball is in play ...great to see they're not standing for it

Balls probably in play for 55-70 minutes of the 90 on average. About time they dealt with a huge glaring problem in football that time wasting antics pose...
Howe and Pulis shitting 'emselves.

The added time has been a genuinely refreshing change and something we've all been moaning about for many years.
It's really good to see and long may it continue.
Some of the VAR stuff has been dodgy, our game yesterday for example.

No complaints about the time added on, that has been great to see.
Officiating has been average though - especially in the USA vs Wales game last night.
VAR has been very poor in my opinion, it's a matter of time before it comes to a head.

Didn't think the challenge on Bale was a pen myself and anticipated it and went down as he so often does but think the refs been ok. Excellent in the Argie game.

I felt it was a penalty, the defender got the ball but he came through Bale to get it which is a foul. Very clever play by Bale to get between defender and the ball and very stupid by the defender to still go for the ball.

I really don't like the animated offside decision, they need to show live footage as it'll feed the conspiracy theorists globally if there's a dodgy decision

Goal line technology only, fuck the rest of it off, it’s bollocks.
Goal, let’s pause the mental to see if it’s allowed
Hate it

Very clever play by Bale to get between defender and the ball and very stupid by the defender to still go for the ball. Definite penalty. If you watch it in slow motion Bale knows he can get to the ball first, does so with his left foot and the defender clatters into him. In that sense Bale 'bought' the penalty but, as one of the pundits said, stupid challenge because what was Bale going to do moving away from goal? Instead he gets a free shot at goal from 12 yards!

I can’t see it continuing tbh , the tv companies are furious with it as it’s fucking their schedules up , and unfortunately with the money they pay FIFA I think fifa will back down to them
