www.bristolworld.com/sport/football/bristol-city/wolves-and-stoke-city-dealt-transfer-blow-by-bristol-city-3993007The Potters were linked with a loan move for the 29-year-old earlier in the January transfer window, and are searching for a replacement for Joe Bursik after he was sold to Scott Parker’s Club Brugge. Wolves meanwhile had been mentioned as a potential destination for Bentley, who wanted competition for Jose Da.
Both clubs however will have to accept that Bentley will not be moving to either club after the Robins made the decision to loan out goalkeeper Stefan Bajic to Valenciennes until the end of the season. Bajic joined on a three-year deal on a free transfer from Pau in the summer, but made just one appearance and has failed to appear on the bench in the Championship. To be fair if true we can’t do much about that.

It's worrying, the rumours and links have even dried up. If true that Clarke & Fosu are on the way out, we are looking seriously short on numbers & quality. I can see your point about numbers. Quality not so much, what are we losing in that respect?

Have you seen him play, or are you basing your opinion on statistics? Seen him play quite a bit, there's a reason why after scoring 30 goals in league one, nobody higher took the plunge on him, yet the likes of toney all got moves. He's not good enough for this level, he's 29 in the summer, there's no development left. He's only going to get worse from here on in. If anything describes Stoke City player recruitment it’s that right there. I’m convinced we’ll sign him now.

Confident that Fosu is gone, very strange one He bemoaned the lack of wingers, then ostracised the only one (in his eyes) at the club He did say he'd make some decision we'd maybe not understand or agree with. Not really, it's a bit like saying you haven't got any drills in your toolbox. Does it stop you throwing away a broken one?

I think we’ll sign someone today. I don’t know anything- just a feeling I think we’ll sign no one today. I don’t know anything- just a feeling 😉

Even e broken bit will drill some kind of round hole, trouble is Stoke will put a square peg in it.

I don’t know anything- just a feeling 😉 Maybe 'The Plan' is to get all the 'outs' (save the Souttar deal) out this week, then with any of the ensuing cumulative financial wiggle room bring any 'ins' in next week, with potential for a last minute Trolley dash in the more premium aisles if Souttar deal done. Wouldn't be surprised if no Ins till next week

Can only think there is a plan in place to make as much wage’s available so the better targets are loaned instead of swapping a loan for a another cheap shit loan that’s why it’s all so quiet makes sense if that’s the case does it not??

Ticks all our recruitment team boxes then…..he will be right at home with the other wasters who have no ambition or pride and are happy to plod along with a fat pay cheque.

Well saying that it was supposed to be a drill it wouldn't drill any holes when the tradesman tried to use it. I'd chuck it away personally. Nothing against the lad compared to a number of our players I thought he was ok to watch just never produced anything.

Saving a week's wages isn't going to make a blind bit if difference to the quality of any loans we bring in. The clamour to send back all the loanees and bring in new ones is just desperate. We are fishing in exactly the same pool as we were in the summer - except there's less fish and all the prime ones are in someone else's keep net. The idea the new batch of loaners will be better is nonsense - it's way more likely they will be worse and have no time to be integrated into the squad. The only real hope is selling Souttar and getting a couple of decent perms - keeper, replacement CB and target man (if we really are sticking to hoofball). January is usually a rubbish time to bring in new players but to be honest we have to gamble because this squad under this manager is relegation fodder

How can we sell Souttar when we are in a relegation scrap, we are near bottom of the championship ffs. if the club are relying on the Souttar deal to bring players in then we are well and truly fucked. In our position and with this window, what player of any caliber is going to come to stoke. We need Souttar here to give us a chance of surviving

All i can see is another pile of shit coming in that is no better than what we have. I am just praying that there are 3 teams worse than us, which is possible. I want us to limp home with Souttar here until the summer and start afresh

I don't want him to go and his sale would be short termism in the extreme, but him or a goalkeeper + at least one other player is a no brainer.

We aren't catching you so nothing to worry about. You’re 8 points behind us. Couple of good results for you and bad results for us and that gap goes right down to 4 points at most. You lot aren’t cut adrift at the bottom of the league. You’ll be fine if you manage to get a couple of decent loans in.

2600 followers on twitter, reading through some tweets there (like many journos) are many accurate ones. Hopefully there is truth in this Could be legit Clarke-Harris? Are they trying to scare the defenders by bringing him in? I would have laughed my socks off! 🤣

Just seen on Twitter Fosu to Rotherham. According to ‘every step along the way’ podcast. Weakening ourselves and strengthening a rival Fosu going wouldn’t surprise me at all. Neil’s view is that we’ve only got one winger at the club. We’ve also currently got 5 loans and only 5 can be in the squad on a match day. We haven’t got funds or loans spaces to sign other wingers (at least not decent ones) and our priorities lie elsewhere, goalkeeper etc. It seems likely that we’ll be continuing with wing backs and Fosu ain’t a wing back, so Fosu going back to free up a space for a different loanee makes sense.

Controversial opinion.
I think the bigger clubs wanting Souttar are waiting us out. They know we need to sell to buy, and without buying we are in free fall.
Souttar is a lot cheaper as a L1 defender then a defender playing for a club fighting for its life.
