Clarke-Harris couldn’t hit a cows arse with a banjo when Peterborough were in the championship. So no doubt he’s our number one target. Perhaps they're planning for next season 😮

Teams operate on different timelines. There are now 7 bulletproof teams in the PL and only incompetence is stopping West Ham (50k+ capacity stadium & London based) and Everton with the money they have spent joining this group. With 3 teams relegated, it is almost inevitable the other teams will drop down at some point as teams have to be rebuilt - this is where the cycle originated from. Southampton, Leicester and Palace are all at this point currently.. How clubs handle that shift is key - get it wrong and overspend and the risk of a downward spiral is high. Burnley have always been ready to be relegated and never really aspired to crack the elite. Stoke City’s demise can be traced to the attempt to run the club with less owner finance in the early part of the Hughes era. It seemed to work but we were letting the squad age and were exposed to a key player like Arnie leaving. Our response was to spend high in a short period which was a gamble that failed If we'd reinvested the Arnie money sensibly we wouldn't have been relegated. Yes given how close it was we would have squeezed through.

When you think things couldn't get any worse someone always has the answer. You think AN is better eh? Better tell Everton and Leics. Personally I find neither AN nor Dyche to be aspirational football managers but yes Dyche is even further away from something I would aspire to. If I was a Leicester fan swapping Rogers for Dyche would be heartbreaking. At least if he rocked up here he’d be just another in a long line of dour bastards.

Weren't Posh looking for £7-8m for Clarke-Harris last season? I really struggle to see how we can afford him. He's on the last year and half of his deal I think but I just struggle to see how we afford him. I can't see the Bursik fee being enough to cover any decent amount of the transfer fee he'd cost? Even if it was JCH we looked at on that as well, which personally I can't see.
If there's room in the wage bill now a deal like the Afobe transfer can be arranged, where we take them on loan now and convert it to permanent in the summer.

I can't see us having any interest in Clarke-Harris, even if we have some cash after a Souttar sale. He's 29 this year, and Pboro always hold out for big money. I think it'd take something crazy like £4m+ , and you'd hope the days of us paying that for players on the way down, especially with no track record at this level, are over. He looked poor in the Champo, and only managed 7 non-penalties.

The Peterborough player we'd be watching would surely be the right winger, Ward?
You can't imagine it would be the centre half as he's attracting PL interest.
Clarke Harris is a carthorse.

No fee to Newcastle or not it was a very expensive deal for a player so far into a downward curve he’d nearly hit the floor.

Will you please stop this utter, utter garbage. All of the clubs you mention would swap owners with us in the blink of an eye. Are we well run? A genuine question. We got ourselves needlessly relegated from the Premier League due to complacency in the transfer market (we stopped spending) and poor managerial decisions (not sacking Hughes and the appointing Lambert). We then wasted three years of parachute payments due to throwing as much money around as possible without any real strategy or thought. We lost £26 million last year. £56 million the year before that. Does that suggest to you that we are well run? Since relegation we have not even finished in the top half. There is nothing in the last 5-7 years that suggest that this club is anything other than poorly run. It's not "the owners" per se, it's more the fact they have put Jon in charge and he is seemingly clueless, but will Peter and Denise see that and do something? Doubtful I'm afraid
