The likes of Owen and Rooney had unique physiology didn't they? Both short and stocky, loads of power and explosive pace at a young age. If Rooney hadn't got injured he would have won Euro 2004 for England. Both wore themselves out early I watched Tezgel again last night and there's going to be a cracking player there but he's building up that power in his legs, he needs to build his strength more. We should give him time off the bench the rest of this season but no, he's not ready to start. To be fair to Rooney he kept playing until his mid thirties. I went to the game Stoke lost 3-0 at Pride Park in his first season there when he was about 33 and he completely ran the show from midfield. Won the game for them by himself. You never lose quality and he was able to adapt his game to a deep lying position where acceleration wasn't so necessary. It was 4-0 on Brexit night

The way this club is run, I would'nt be surprised if we sold Soutar in the last minute, which would mean we wouldn't have the time to spend the money in this window to strengthen the team.

Don't know what's happened to Cantwell. I thought he was one of the best players in the championship not long ago. Didn't do too badly in the prem either for Norwich.

Cantwell good player but don’t think we’d even be in for him.

Nixon on twitter saying Iversen "has always been the manager's priority" but they'd be looking for a "fair bit more than £2-3m"

Nixon on twitter saying Iversen "has always been the manager's priority" but they'd be looking for a "fair bit more than £2-3m" There in lies the reason why the Championship is so poor. Iverson has been at Leicester for years, played 3 cup games for them, but costs more than any Championship team could afford.

The only reason for that is the stupid FFP rules stops rich owners spending their money.

Yeah agreed...FFP is now starting to impact how teams can even become/stay competitive in this division. There are plenty of teams who have enough money to buy Iverson ...But they are not allowed to afford him unless they sell their crown jewels and reduce their team strength. Its beyond silly now and needs to get sorted . Even lower league teams cant sell their best assets to make money as their player may not be good enough yet to step up to the magic money tree that is the premier league and this league can't spend a few million on lower league players . Farcical

Farcical Whilst Premier League teams can afford to hoover up and hoard all the best prospects further denying lower clubs access to possible future money spinners and then simply send them out on loan until they're of no further use. Lewis Baker being a prime example.

Leicester have recalled a keeper from Fleetwood. Probably not Iversen-related as he wasn't even playing for Fleetwood, but you never know

Farcical Not only that, say a league one club refuses to sell x player for x million (as per your scenario) they then lose the player on a free 18 month later or whatever, or his purple patch stops and value plummets. Just a self fulfilling prophecy

Farcical yes it is farcical, we could spend the 2 million on Iverson easy with Coates money, Leicester could then spend 2 or so million on an up and coming League 1 player, who may spend 500k on a div 2 player, who may spend 100k on a non league player Decisions like this affect lower league clubs, if you think we have it tough clubs like Bury went bust because of that lack of cash from clubs like ours, and they call this fair play!!! Try telling that to the tea lady, the groundsman, the turnstile op who lost her job because of all this fairness But we cannot wish to upset the bigger clubs, we need to know our place, it wouldn't be good for football if Liverpool, Man U, Citeh or Chelsea were not up there, how the fuck would Sky put up with that. It genuinly makes me want to go and take up following another sport. Rant over!
