This - we needed to sell for FFP, no matter what Neil says, and could not use enough of the Soutttar money to tempt decent players to join us or persuade their clubns to let them go on deadline day. The whole financial model of the club over the past 6 or 7 years has been a shambles, yet has not been changed. We continue to bleed money, stopping us challenging for players that will turn us around. Relying on freebies and loans, whilst selling your best players, usually does not end very well. Surely to goodness then now the window is closed someone can just have a bit of honest dialogue with supporters and give the true picture.Urgent transfer Press Conference now called for next Wednesday. |

Its not the having to sell him part that bothers me. It's the not having a plan for that. It's absolutely shambolic. I suppose you think Stoke share all their transfer plans on The Oatcake or elsewhere, nothing is kept behind closed doors? Deals fall through, it happens. Souttar maybe wanted out. Such is life. What a fucking shambles. Souttar, Flint, Clarke, Delap, Fosu, Kilkenny, DWP, Bursik all leave Tuanzebe, Hoever, Celina and Sarkic in all on loan Apart from Souttar non of them are any loss. No point lamenting the loss of poor or not ready players. Celina looks good, probably better keeper and new right back that you can’t assess on 15 minutes. |

I am in the 'be careful what you wish for' category when people start to call for the board to go. Let's just wait and see how things pan out before we decide it is a shambles. It seems to me that AN has cleared the decks early to give him room to bring in other players. People on this MB are moaning because we may have missed out on 1-2 players this window. Too early to say if this will cause us problems. Personally, I think we will be ok but my expectations are low. If I am wrong then I will still be a Stoke supporter in August. For all the pessimists on this board, if it is as dire as you are predicting then the run in to the end of the season could be a nail-biter.... although, given all the hyperbole and emotion on here, that may be too much to handle for some of us. |

I really have no idea how we make a squad out of this lot, particularly with 7 loans in there.
You’d think of the 7 Sarkic has to play, Pearson will, one of Sterling or Hoever, Tuanzebe I think is a shoo-in when fit. It’s then 1 more of Celina, Smallbone or the other right back in the squad.
It looks painfully thin either way.
