Wow, going back through people's posts. Sad man 😁 Strangely, it didn't take any time at all to find many examples of you doing precisely what you'd just denied in the post before 🤣 And have just done again! You're not cut out for these kinds of places, knype. Like FYD, partick and thevoid, they seem to wind you up way too much. Yeah of course it didn't, and it is sad. They don't wind me up, I feel, sorry for them tbh

Well unless you're willing to act as facilitator and oversee a discussion that suits your rules you might want to give it a miss. There are plenty of threads I find prdictable, peurile and full of comments from posters who think they're funny when they're anything but , but if that's what light's their candle fair play - I'm not the arbiter of taste and decency. But I don't hop on them and have a good moan about what someone else is doing - I just give them a wide berth. It's not hard. Spot on. It's a very strange decision to keep on participating in something that irritates/pisses you off on a regular basis. And then moan about it equally regularly! But I think, in reality, it's more a case of those people having an interest in the thread subject (obviously, otherwise why read it!) while not liking some of the political comments on there, especially those that don't align with their own opinions, which causes the irritation. It's weird because political/current affairs threads are always a minority of the total threads so easily avoided if they irritate, yet back they come for another pick at the scab knowing full well it's going to hurt again! Exactly this. Some people are not comfortable with what they consider left wing views so would rather people not express them.

I think that is symptomatic of the modern debate. Nobody really cares about listening, digesting and understanding opposing views anymore. It's all about gotchas, belittling and ridiculing your opponent and unfortunately, inciting pile ons. I blame political/social commentators. Your Morgans, Murrays, Jones, Sakars and to some extent, your O'Briens. These people have a vested interest in keeping the 'culture wars' going. They need to win arguments, to shut down debates, to promote partisanship. It's thier bread and butter. They need views, likes, retweets, and TV appearances. I posted on another thread that Grace Blakeley, one of the left wing types I believe, donated her appearance fee when she appeared on TalkTV to debate Israel Gaza. I wonder how many more of them have done that? My guess is fucking none of them. Cunts.

At times, and I reckon the likes of badger would agree with me (apologies if not), it’s not so much the left wing views being uncomfortable, it’s the looking down their nose way they’re expressed. I suspect that is more a reflection of the inferiority complex that led some posters to go on about others having superiority complexes. Works both ways, obviously. I think, if you could get the posters who moan most about these threads and "lefties, liberals, wokies" etc to be absolutely honest for a couple of seconds, they'd concede that their anger and irritation towards those posters comes from two basic sources. First, they're nearly all right-wingers who are disappointed that, after getting Brexit and almost 14 years of Tory rule, the country is in a fucking mess. That annoys them and having non-Tories point it out annoys them even more. Second, by their own admissions, most of the posters who complain most often about these threads and the "lefties, liberals etc" on them, do not follow politics or spend time reading about it or current affairs or seek to understand situations in any great depth or detail. They happily concede this and see it as weird that others do, often using it as some kind of slur, or insinuation of weirdness. It's inevitable therefore that their opinions are frequently ill-informed and ill-thought out. To cite one example from this very thread: "next terror attack [by Islamists] on the UK and all muslims should be deported to the nearest muslim country". Clearly, unworkable nonsense that would penalise entirely innocent people, and that's leaving aside the fact that it is ethnic cleansing and fundamentally illegal. So, when one of the "lefty liberals", who do generally have an interest in politics and bother to read around subjects to understand them better, pulls nonsense like this and other ill-thought out opinions apart, it causes irritation with those who are broadly sympathetic to the views expressed. I see that happening time and time again. I don't expect any of the "moaners" to accept this as it's probably too close to the bone to be comfortable, but that is probably pretty accurate as the real source of the complaining. After all, in terms of how posters express themselves to each other, which seems to be the way in which these complaints are most often couched, that very much works both ways, as the banning of individuals from both sides of the political fence illustrates only too well.

The same folk just banging on time after time about what should and should be commented on, how it should be commented on, the tone of how it's commented on. Zzzzzzzzzzz. No one's trying to change the world here it's just a bit of fun to pass the time away, they're so fucking tedious..................

I've said it time and again; nobody gobbing off on here, that holds either set of views, would talk to each other the way the spout off on here if they were down the pub. It just wouldn't happen. Those that did would get ignored and soon scuttle off. I try to remain as disengaged as possible from the political stuff, I don't understand how some posters seem prepared to make the time and effort to post what seems like hourly diatribes on subjects they're regurgitating responses to from some rag, columnist or social media bullshit they follow. The point scoring that goes on is pathetic. Inferiority complexes, superiority complexes pah. We're all just a bunch of retards with nothing better to do than chat shit on here, no more & no less. I'm dreading what this place becomes during the next General Election season.

Observing how one treats people they disagree or don't get along with is the most robust way to see what they've learned about love, kindness and understanding.
People should apply the same standards to both friends and foes.

After all, in terms of how posters express themselves to each other, which seems to be the way in which these complaints are most often couched, that very much works both ways, as the banning of individuals from both sides of the political fence illustrates only too well. There's also become a tendency by some on here to be affronted when their opinions are challenged - any attempt to try to clarify their position and debate the issue gets seen as a personal attack and things spiral down from there. And that goes for all sides of the political divide. The other ridiculous tendency is to badge people as either right wingers or lefties when positions can be way more nuanced than that. I, and expect others, have been badged as far left when I'm nothing of the sort - I'm not even a socialist, let alone a communist. And final moan - the tit for tat trading of random videos to "prove" a point is getting ridiculous. It does nothing of the sort - it's just a great illustration of selection bias. The worrying thing is that as a mode of arguement it started with the conspiracy theorists and it's gone viral - that in itself is quite scary.

This proves everything. I win. Watch this then lock the thread. 😂 Argentina has a hell of a lot of problems right now. A little war on workery isn’t going to solve any of them. “If you think differently from them, they will kill you”, says the still breathing populist instantly disproving his nonsense. “As explained previously, one of Milei’s own fears is that his medical history is leaked to the press, which could confirm a preconceived notion that he is clinically insane. Furthermore, he has a father-son relationship with his dogs, which are clones of his beloved Conan, all of which he can directly communicate with (allegedly) and considers to be his advisors in matters of macroeconomics, politics and foreign policy. He’s been able to speak directly to God (apparently), ” www.forbes.com/sites/afontevecchia/2023/09/30/javier-milei-the-destroyer-and-fear-of-the-unexplainable-in-argentinas-presidential-elections/amp/
