Maybe it's just me but they're just lumps of stone ffs, I don't quite get all the excitement. I get the cenotaph and certain monuments but I'd take people over statues any day of the week. His biggest crime is being an Arsenal fan.................. I see your point ref statues, but for me a war monument is sacred, where do you draw the line? Are churches mosques synagogues to be treated as just bricks. Itās about respect ultimately I suppose, and thereās not a lot about atm |

So, people view these threads and the more they get viewed, the more they get dispersed online for others. Then, a few isolated incidents that would likely not have been widespread news 20 years ago are suddenly dominating conversations. Itās far less exciting to watch 12 hours of peaceful marches down a street than it is to watch the same of violence and hatred. Best thing people can do is simply stay of Twitter. With 70 million or so people in this country, Iām sure that a couple of twats have jumped on war memorials in years pre-social media. Itās so unlikely that they havenāt, especially when you consider what assholes do when drunk. The difference is, we donāt live in a culture where are phone cameras are the first thing we look through when we see something. |

It's entirely non threatening as far as I'm concerned and the more we learn of other cultures the better the chance for peace and harmony as far as I'm concerned. What would you propose? Forced conversion to CofE (which fewer and fewer people give a fcuk about anyway) as a pre-condition for residence? |
