Fair play, he went from being absolutely dire in the first half to our best attacking player in the second. The move to the right of the front three looked like it suited him way more. He’s got trickery there which he obviously can’t use at wing back.
Well done, youth.

I think he’s fine. We have far bigger problems to worry about than him.

Players often need 4/5 games on the bounce before you get to see the best of them..............

He should play right or left in a front three or not at all. Like others have said he's a winger or wide forward but definitely not a wingback.

As already said, he's much better further up the pitch.

He’s a really decent Championship attacking player and someone we should try to sign permanently after his loan.
Repeatedly hanging him out to dry in a position that he’s never played before and doesn’t suit him isn’t a great way to go about that though.

Just wish we’d use him as a winger. RW or LW? Dribbler so can play either side not sure which is his more natural crossing foot though

Slightly concerning though that Alex Neil has been saying for the last few weeks that we don't really have any wingers in the squad, yet we had one right under his nose from the word go?.

I mentioned this on another thread. He’s not saying we have no wingers. If we start the game with Campbell and Fosu on the wings, what do we do if Fosu gets injured? We have to change formation to one we haven’t prepped for? What if we are really on top playing 343 and don’t have another winger to bring on to maintain shape. It’s not just about the first starting 11

It was quite an attacking team on paper but hard to attack without the ball. To be fair Burnley had as much creativity as a porpoise, not one of those smart porpoises either.

Our players could have popped to Lidl and Burnley would still be knocking it around aimlessly when they got back.

He simply has to play as an attacker on Saturday, Sterling can play RWB and Clarke LWB if Tymon isn't fit..

I missed the Gayle chance which I think he also set up. Those two crosses alone mean he is a contender for wide right in a front 3. He's been fairly awful at WB, and we don't need him there now.

Interesting decisions lie ahead for AN.
Campbell still has his blistering pace and so will always be in contention.
Delap improves with every game and is first name on the team sheet.
Brown gives us his running power and the odd goal.
Gayle is probably behind those three at the moment but he is a clever player and could be a better option from the bench against tiring legs.
And then there is Fosu who can operate on either side of the attack.
No place for DWP even on the bench when everyone is fit. I would cash in on him in the transfer window.

With Clarke back, he could play left side of a three with (eventually) Harry and Willmott (we've tried Willmott there and it wasn't great), allowing Tymon and Sterling to play wing back (I think Sterling could be good there). It'll rid us of Fox which is my wildest dream at the moment! We know who we'd like as our midfield three so it's the two up top that has to work sooner or later. However, we'll also have a squad capable of playing a flat back four...it's just whether we play Tymon as a left back in that situation.

We looked far better at the end with Fosu and Campbell wide of Delap. Clarke should also get back in given his performance, perhaps on the left of the back three. I think I'd go with Fox and Sterling as wing backs until Tymon comes back. Jags should stay in after his performance. Hopefully someone is fit to replace Smallbone...
