I know it seems a strange concept but happy to reserve judgement until I see him on the pitch in a Stoke shirt. The last free transfer from Cardiff was met with at best a lukewarm response yet didn't turn out half bad at all. Yup Wasn't enamoured with Odemwingie signing (wasn't a free though we swapped him for a useless...) but he was fabulous Another injury that really did for us Of course ,forgot we swapped him for Jones.

? Don’t get it I'm probably being really thick You need to be in your 60's Sorry, it was just that one word triggered a link. McGuiness Flint were a well known band of musicians from the 1970's.

Brought him for his goal threat which we didnt do to well at from set pieces last year. He seems to have a winning mentality and from clip on youtube he seems aggressive in the other box wanting to win the ball and have a crack at goal. so for me let's give him a chance.

You can't really go wrong on a one year deal. Hope he does well. You can if it’s with an option for another after so many games like vrancic If he wasn't up to the standard required you wouldn't use him so it wouldn't matter. You would loan him out or just blood a youngster in his place. I get the feeling he will do a job for us.

I like the idea of a one year deal. Not an exciting signing, but for a year it won't hurt.

A one year deal seems appropriate. Hopefully he is able to put a few in the back of the net in addition to providing some defensive experience.

Interesting Fun Facts McGuinness Flint band members included Gallagher & Lyle who had hits with 'I wanna stay with you' and 'Heart on my sleeve'. Graham Lyle went on to write 'What's love got to do with it?' for Tina Turner.

He’ll be orate I’m sure. As well as Jagielka did for us last season it’s probably a stretch to think he can go a full season anyway. Good luck Aden

Good old Mcguiness Flint.Tom Mcguiness was ex Manfred Mann and a tall fella with glasses. 2 big hits in the early 70s which were very catchy.

Seems like we’ve identified some key areas for improvement and actually gone for a square peg for square hole, if Holden is right. By the way, is it just me or does anyone else find Holden ever so slightly menacing…..wouldn’t want to upset him 😂😂

They want someone to score goals, therefore they go for a central defender ...
Cynically right, it always seems easier to buy a defender, so best to getting that deal done first to avoid total catastrophy ...
👍🤣👍

Usually I would be very reluctant to judge a centre back on their ability to score goals from set pieces. They need to be able to defend.
But we do now have some excellent set piece specialists like Baker and Vrancic and we have players like Brown who draw alot of fouls in the final third so this could be a really useful weapon this season but let's see how it works.
These things can make a big difference, especially in terms of causing other teams tactical headaches, and having to adjust their set up to deal with these things etc. Just like Delap's throw-ins cause mayhem for our opponents once upon a time and kept us in the Prem for at least one season.

The average amount of signings for Championship sides last summer was 12-14 to put it into context. I think Swansea brought in something like 23 players.

Like this one. Good option to have in the squad for sure. Especially given the budget constraints we're under.
It seems a long, long time since we had a set piece and you were sure Shawx or Huthy would get their head on it &, at least, pretty sure it would be a goal. Great to have that threat back.
(Him, Harry and whichever big lump CF we're supposedly getting will be a tasty trio on the end of a Baker / Vrancic / Powell special.)
And, on a given day, you always need some nuts & bolts defending - which I'm sure he'll bring in spades.

He will be a good option at set pieces but his team mates will need to insist on the ref being fair
There were a fair few times last season when Souttar would have been a threat if not being shirt pulled , wrestled, assaulted etc
We can't let the ref off and let him turn a blind eye to this , as happened with Souttar , more than once, last season
