MON is in the Wenger camp when it comes to long throws. It’s not the long throws that are his gripe it’s the time wasted to set them up. Seems a tad hypocritical as we take ages with throw ins and we’re not even trying to set anything up. I’d like something done, so much game time is lost to them. Why not penalise a slow throw in with a booking or more. In cricket a batsman can be "timed out". This is a method of dismissal that occurs when an incoming batsman is not ready to play within three minutes of the previous batsman being out. If he is not at his crease by then he can be given out. Although such dismissals are rare, it is still an applicable part of the Laws of Cricket, and a similar rule could be applied to those seeking to use delaying tactics or gamesmanship at throw ins. I believe also that Golfers can be fined or penalised for slow play.

That’s just victim mentality. The owners can afford the best lawyers. If gambling advertising gets banned they’re going to have to get very creative on the sponsorship front so why not get ahead of the game? It’s not an option to breach. Because of the failures in recent seasons, monitoring is now much tighter, wouldn’t be able to spend the money or pay higher wages without EFL sign off. Only option is large promotion bonuses I’m pretty sure we don’t take the piss anywhere near enough on the sponsorship front. You increase your revenue allowing you to spend and pay more. Much harder for them to levy anything more than a financial penalty. For all those saying it can’t be done see Man City, threatened with being barred from European competitions, never received a sporting penalty only financial ones.

Sounds sensible and hopefully just back up with only a year. I’m seeing him as a replacement for Chester who could’ve been upgraded with a sofa to be honest. This allows us to bring him on in the last ten minutes when chasing and we hoof it up and hopefully get some corners and free kicks to pressurise. His signing will do for me as long as he’s not perceived to be the future and blocks our youth pathway.

Just reading his wiki, it's amazing to think he scored 15 goals in 2014-15 for Brizzle from centre half! We can't even find a striker to score that many in 1 season!

1 year deal, good for all parties 👌🏻 1 year deal, at last some sense. Baker signing long term is also great, good recruitment over the last 24 hours. Hope this continues.

One year deal is sensible I feel, Souttar not fully fit, no idea when Jags will go ‘off’ and is only contracted until January.
Can imagine he’s on massive wages.
He’s another huge unit, hopefully we’ll score a few more from dead balls.
What’s not to like.

It's our new policy that has been set down and designed by this manager. All players over 30 get 1 year with an option. We spend money where we can on players 24 and under.
It's that kind of plan and sensibility that we needed the owners to show post relegation. If they had the brains and wherewithal to do it, we wouldn't be in this mess now.
Whilst we might argue over the nitty gritty of who we're signing, and whether the manager is picking the right players, we can't argue with the top down approach he's implemented as it will stand us in good stead going forwards.
Welcome to Stoke Aden.

I totally agree but we have to stop being so nice and hammer the ref if flint or souttar are unfairly impeded In going for the ball . I remember away to Millwall last season, THREE times Souttar was wrestled to the ground by someone six inches shorter than him, from 3 separate set pieces . A blatant peno but the reaction of the Stoke players was not a lot , so the ref took the easy way out and pretended he didn't see it. This is crazy, all our players should have gone mental, surrounded the ref , gone ballistic and MoN should have come on , gone mad and most likely got sent off , as Chelsea or man city do . There is no way the ref would have turned down 3 blatant penalties if as a team we had turned on him . He might have turned down the first and given the next two But he would have been smart enough to have realised if he turned down 3 blatant penalties in one match ( that a school age ref would have given) and the Stoke players had gone mental it would have been all over the press , sky sports , you tube Facebook etc , he would have become a laughing stock and refereeing non league some time soon . We can't let the ref off with this one .We have to force the issue, especially if Souttar , flint or both , are playing. As what happened at Millwall happened more than once last season. We literally threw away points being nice to the ref and letting him off Crazy

Think you’re being a bit derogatory to the sofa here, the sofa has sturdier legs and can at least ‘cushion’ the ball. Really good upgrade on Chester non the less tho.

Could turn out to be a smart move for all involved
First tackle during the first match will make the impression for sure & a player to bring back a bit of the old `Dogs Of War' mandate which wasnt in evidence last season

Quite pleasing that it’s only a one year deal, don’t want to be tying the next managers hands too much.
