Are you looking forward to it?
I'm going to the 1st day of the England v New Zealand test match at Lords on Thursday but I could take a day off anytime and do that anyway.
On the whole I'd rather be at work. It's not like the work will go away, it will pile up, and what for exactly, an extra day of holiday when nothing is open.
I think when it was first cooked up it was a populist measure seen as a vote winner, but it just looks a bit daft now.

Just feels weird having a 3-day week. Not complaining though, time off is time off.

Messed my head up not having Monday off to be honest. I'd rather have had two long weekends on the bounce or indeed the Friday and the Mon this coming weekend. Had to juggle childcare last week as school opted to close last Weds and give staff the extra two banks then so a bit of a pigs ear really. Agree was designed as a populist measure and I'll gladly take day off but it's a bit of a non-event really. And got to cram shedloads in at work today to compensate

A lot of people at my place have booked the Monday-Weds off so they've had nine off but only used three days holiday. I would have done but all my annual leave is spoken for

I remember the Queens Silver Jubilee week back in 1977.
That week's holiday from 6th form was a godsend as it gave me the chance to do an additional week's cramming before the rest of my A-Levels.
I suspect there will be plenty of kids this week, who have sat a couple of exams so far, realised they were perhaps not as well prepared as they thought and are now currently swotting like mad.

I remember this, I was 17, the future Mrs Buzzb was 15, we got drunk, fun though. The Father in law spruced up the back yard and garage with anything Union Jack-ish and invited all his mates and neighbours. Fast forward 45 years and now I'm the old bastard! We are going on a cruise Friday so I thought I had dodged it all, only to read that being as we don't hit the first port until Monday the ship is having a Jubilee extravaganza!! Friday to Monday, yippeeee! It will of course please Mrs Buzzb. Love the new kit by the way.

Any gaps in between I’ll keep posting Prince Andrew nonce related puns…….

Am checking how much it costs to drive over from Saturday to Sunday. If reasonable I'll come over just to see what all the fuss is about.

Absolutely nothing going on round our neck of the woods. I've only seen two houses with a bit of bunting, but no street parties, and everything really quiet. Apart from the TV and media coverage you'd never know any difference from normal.

No parties and a solitary Union flag in our street, I wondered if I should unfurl a red flag or even better the EU flag to show some solidarity?

Not one bit of bunting in my street, thankfully. Spaffer got booed by the royalists too, ... there is hope yet!

Strange vibe here, local school did a summer fete/jubilee event and most people attended on the basis of spending a few quid and tried to get away ASAP, let my nipper be the barometer of when to leave , and she called time at 40mins. As for the street , we did a party in lockdown and everyone went for it and bunting and a decent all day party. This year, virtually nobody has bothered, which I'll explain thus. A lovely couple in street who do us lots of favours and are lovely to our kids put some up this morning and he seemed a bit underwhelmed nobody else had . As they're lovely people and I didn't want to piss on his parade , and as the wife works in a school and had a bootful of surplus bunting from a scho event before half-term, I've bunged some up , but mainly to show solidarity with nice neighbours . Was delighted to see Boris and Zak Goldsmiths bit on the side get booed today too. We are going to a jubilee event where my parents live as them and some neighbours are having a late afternoon party mainly for the over 70s plus their kids so that won't be overly arduous on a Sat afternoon . I'll frankly take a long weekend for any reason I can, and actually got a few of them in June, got a couple of gigs next weekend so booked the Monday off (Download then Noel Gallagher in Cannock) and 2 weeks later the youngest has got a mid-term PD day so we're away Thurs and Fri . I could get used to working less days a week, not sure finances or indeed the wife's spending habits would agree though lol
