Weren't they supposed to be after Arnie last summer? They'll be showing interest in Erik Pieters next. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has been linked with them today again as well.

The sadness for me is that he will hardly have played any first team football in the whole of his career? Just under 300 appearances in total including 169 for Stoke. Don’t be too sad.

Neither show ambition. Just shows how downhill his career has gone. Never understood why Palace took him nor can I understand Man Utd, maybe someone can enlighten me! He looked done here and hasn’t reignited his career at Selhurst. He's going to be No.2 Goalie at one of the biggest clubs in the world (if reports are correct) It could be interpreted as quite an ambitious move, or one with promising opportunities. If De Gea gets injured, he gets a shot in the posts and a chance to resurrect his career big time. Even at his peak here, that might have been very tempting. He played I think 10x in his time at Palace, had I think 1 clean sheet. If anyone thinks he’s gone to Man Utd to play then I think you’ll be disappointed. It’s a really weird move by them if true but I don’t blame Butland for wanting to go, I just think at 29 he should’ve been No1 at a club, but he simply isn’t good enough since his injury.

Is he better than than we have,or has he got worse since leaving us? Can’t imagine…. Blimey, hope there's not a video going round of all my mistakes at work, it would run for about 3 hours 😀

I'm only surprised this didn't come earlier. Must have been the injuries. He's up there with Banks and Shilton.
Good Luck Jack!

Unfortunately was not the same player after getting injured on England duty and by the time he left he was a shadow of that keeper and mainly due to a complete loss of confidence. I do believe the ability is still there, but I think he could be one of those that has somehow lost it mentally and won't get back to his previous levels purely and simply because of that. I hope not as I really liked him and he could have been England's number one for quite some time if he had maintained that earlier form.

I hope not as I really liked him and he could have been England's number one for quite some time if he had maintained that earlier form. The injury was tragic for him. The change in goalkeeping - the perceived requirement for a top keeper to be able to play it on the floor - also completely fucked him and and meant he took his eye off his core strengths. Pope at Newcastle has shown that if you play to your strengths you can still be successful. He's wank with his feet but a rock solid keeper. He also, and this is a massive thing for a keeper specifically, had no luck. Every mistake he made led to a goal. Pickford, in contrast, makes loads of mistakes and gets away with it.

Maybe they need a keeper to practice penalties against. You know, build their confidence by consistently finding the onion bag They could put a bollard there but that might save a few! Jack Bollard.

Peak Butland is the best 'keeper I've seen at Stoke.
Still only 29 - potentially 10 years at the top level to go if he can get his form back.
I don't think the worst Butland was as bad as many make out either. He was easily one of our better players the season after relegation, and it's easy to highlight mistakes from goalkeepers that lead to goals conceded. We had loads of unlucky spells where pretty much every individual mistake was punished by a goal conceded, when more often than not, the ball would've gone wide or something else.

Jack's career downfall is incredibly sad. I had to leave my career after developing debilitating health problems. The physical part is terrible, but the mental toll has been even worse. It's impossible to articulate how devastating it is. I logically know that it was outside my control, but I still want to hide away in shame. When you are doing well and climbing the career ladder, you have a lot of friends. Now that I can no longer work, I'm down to a small handful of friends who check in on me a few times a year.
To have a career downfall all play out in the public eye, like Jack has, must be especially difficult.

He was dire after that relegation season. It was comical. Davies was made to look World Class when he came in and actually played (admittedly Davies is better than anything we’ve had in this league). He’s since gone to Crystal Palace and done nothing in a bunch of average goalkeepers. I hope he gets form back too, but he was crap here for at least 20% of his tenure.

BLUF: He tweeted that he would never go to Old Trafford to play second fiddle. Forced to delete the tweet by Man Utd.
Awkward.

What a statement from Butland if true. 29 going on 30, effectively at his peak now, going to Man Utd to warm the bench. What a waste. Better to warm the bench at Old Trafford than Selhurst Park. really sets him up for life. Look at Lee grant. Journeyman for most of his career. Those 4 years at UTD as 3rd choice put the shot on his CV and set him up for life.

You’ll have to forgive me but I don’t do or even get Twitter but how is this awkward. Is it not Banter between him and Bego, presumably two friends, in 2017. Six years ago. It’s hardly embarrassing and not really a story. He’s already gone as a number two at Palace behind a far inferior keeper to de Gea. That would be the embarrassing bit for me. I’m probably missing something here though but I’m sure someone will enlighten me.

He tweeted that in 2017 when he was much younger, and the world was a different place. I doubt if any mid 20s goalkeeper would set out on a career with the aim of being a number 2
Fans of The Shit have got too much time and high opinion of themselves

To be honest mate I've no idea who Manure have got goalkeeper wise but if Jack is number 2 then he's likely to get game time in the FA Cup at least. I was thinking more of him getting his head back to a better place in a happier environment and then if he does get an opportunity being in a position to take it and possibly earn a permanent move in the summer.

It’s a massive club which is great for him, I fear that he won’t get many chances to prove himself, as he didn’t at Palace. It’ll be one I’ll watch with interest and all joking aside, he had a few great years here and looked a top player, sadly his demise was massive too. Best of luck to him.
