I'm going to give my lad a few basic driving lessons and I'm looking for suggestions for car parks that are empty at night or over the weekend.
Thanks in advance!

The business park on Keele Uni campus. Turn left when you pull on main entrance.

The empty Car Parks usually tend to be the ones where the covert Police surveillance operations are taking place!

Back in my day, there were loads of empty car parks at night, the best one being the Normid Co Op at Milehouse. We used to use it as a race track in the snow.

The business park on Keele Uni campus. Turn left when you pull on main entrance. Be careful you don't run over anyone from Stoke AC, Newcastle AC, Trentham RC, Stone MM, South Cheshire Harriers, Buxton, Gator RC, etc, etc other than that it's fairly quiet

The industrial estate off Trentham Road in Newstead has a few streets which used to always be pretty quite at nights/weekends, same goes for the two little industrial areas either side of Duke Street in Fenton... Dunno if they still are quiet but I can't imagine you'd get more than the odd car or two at night. Maybe take a drive around them & have a look.

My missus n kids were all tutored by me there as well.

Took the boy for his first lesson at the Path Lab and his second at Keele (where he made it into 2nd gear). We will do one more on a car park learning mirror signal manoeuvre and then we well get out on to the road. I think I'm more nervous about him driving on the road than he is.

He then very cleverly acquired the most delightful girlfriend who's lovely mother is a driving instructor just in time for his sister to start learning

My dad was a driving instructor (after I learned to drive) and he taught my wife to drive, which saved a fortune! My dad is still around, but he'd be the driving instructor version of Grampa Simpson, so I'm not inflicting that on my boys.

My Dad took me to Newstead Trading Estate while I got used to the controls etc. We had one road lesson, from Newstead down Trentham Road and the A34 to Stone and then back towards Rough Close. We got as far as the lay-by at the end of the long straight towards Rough Close, where I parked up, got out and walked home. Can't remember the cause of the argument but I never went out with him again. (I suspect we were both equally as relieved about that). When it came time for my kids to learn to drive I am afraid I bottled out and made sure they had the money for lessons.

I was talking to my cousin at my grandads funeral though and he was telling me he taught him how drive in the mid 80’s. Basically he picked him up drove to smallthorne roundabout swapped seats and said sort this out and the rest will be easy. Andy passed first time with no instructor lessons, I failed four times 🤷♂️gave up and finally passed 6 years ago out of necessity for my job as I had given up for 15 years.

The first argument I ever had with my wife was when I tried to teach her to drive. She managed to drive to Longnor and then completely forgot how to move the car off the line at the crossroads. I had to work at not saying something on tbe lines of, "come on, this is so fucking easy to do, what's up with you"?!
I did not say it, and my marriage survived the incident.
