What a disaster pass that is! At his age, he should know better than to put a bouncing ball across the box.

Poor old Charlie
About as agile as Sam Comes nowadays
I fear he'll go down the Alan Brazil/Gerry Francis route when he retires and bloat like a puffa fish

That’s pretty much how I viewed him when he was with us. That’s what I saw 😀

That's pretty much how I viewed him when he was with us, that's what I saw Way more Hollywood balls, being lazy, unprofessional and a general mess though.

Stoke City legend.
Just for those two goals against Man Utd.

I just really enjoyed watching a Stoke player who could strike a football like he could.
Haven't seen anyone for us with anywhere near that ability since.
That belter on Tuesday is typical.

In a way, this is the thing about Charlie. He never really had quiet games.
He was always setting up a goal for us, or setting one up for the opposition, or getting sent off, or scoring from the halfway line, or falling over while taking a corner, or strangling Arsenal players, or scoring penalties, or missing penalties (and rebounds).
You could love him. You could hate him. You could do both at the same time. You just couldn't bloody ignore him.
He was nay worldbeater, but our experience in the Premier League was all the richer for having had him here.

Did you not see the goals he scored then? Yeah they were good. Generally a liability though. Bravery can be putting your head in amongst the boots. It’s also trying the difficult pass instead of the easy one. He may well have given away possession too frequently but he also gave us a dimension that we’ve not had since he left. Flawed but fabulous.
