A very well coached side who really should have been out of sight by half time.
You’d have to fancy them for the top six next season if they can keep that team together and add a couple to it.

Think second half showed why they haven't made the play offs All they needed to do was repeat the first half attacking and they would have won, but it never really came
Could easily have been 4 up at ht

Dominated everywhere apart from the score line.
Which I suppose in terms of the result is the most important 😂
But embarrassing nonetheless

Well played Coventry. They are everthing Stoke aren't. Pace ,movement and getting players supporting the forward . Just a shame about the finishing. Should have been four up at halftime Could - Should and would how many times have we heard that, the fact is our keeper gifted them a goal and they couldn't score another, they looked ok but that was more down to us being shite. As for being 4 up at half time where did you get that from? IF they had hit the target with 3 more shots and IF our defence and keeper hadn't done their job yes but FFS it's all ifs and buts. Despite our ability to fuck everything positive up this season they finished 2 points ahead of us with a worse goal difference yet they celebrated at the end like they'd won the title. And despite the fact we were shite for more than half the season and threw away leading position like confetti with a defence made of biscuits they couldn't beat us. Gouranga.

They celebrated and played like a team that still had something to play for, a positive end to a good season for them. Now contrast that with ourselves, a half arsed attitude from players and fans. Well played Coventry, would love to have O’Hare off them.

Very similar at their place earlier in the season, made our lot look more of plodders than they are, lucky to get away with a 1-0 defeat there.

Best team I've seen down Stoke this season. If they can keep those players and possibly add to them they will finish very high next season. A word for their support as well, also the best I've seen at our place for a good while.

Their fans’ spirited rendition of The Beatles song ‘twist + shout’ was inspired and a pisser! Much better than the dreary over-used Delilah which should now be replaced IMO

Well I’m not going to get all giddy with ‘3 cheers for ramirez’. Because they somehow didn’t manage to score anymore than we did with our 2 shots on target when we couldn’t have made it any easier for them in the first half.
What I will say is that their team give the supporters something to ‘twist’ and shout about, quite a contrast to what we are serving up as of late. And their fans go away during the summer break with great positivity.
It’s hard to believe the turn around from the start of this season with the same set of players, even the loan players which came to the club full of vim and vigor have had all their positivity drained out of them.
It’s no coincidence is it? It’s a management issue.

Coventry were excellent Agree with all the above
But the Rick Flair ‘wooos’ on Twist and Shout should lead to a fine from the FA for bringing the game into disrepute
I’d rather be bummed by Eddie Howe dressed as a giant clapper than hear that again.

The Coventry game is the perfect example in ninety minutes of what is wrong with our club .Why MoN needs to go and the whole club needs a shake up .
Coventry knew that we would try and play narrow at the back ( to block the direct route to goal) .So came with a well rehearsed plan to attack with the full width of the pitch and either draw our defenders out (didn't happen) or force us to concede a series of crosses into our box (did happen) .
With a better final ball and movement in our box , they would have got the win they deserved.
Now we don't have to play like Coventry and attack with the full width of the pitch.
We could do what Liverpool do or Fulham sort of do. Liverpool's plan is to play the ball straight out of defence into the feet of a midfielder like thiago or Henderson, some one who can shield the ball and if you allow them time and space, turn on it and play a cutting pass ( plan B) . This is something they sometimes do, if only for variety. But what Liverpool really really want is for you to quickly shut down Henderson or thiago , so they can quickly Lay it off to ( let us say ) Robertson and Salah, who are by now motoring and creating an overload. In other words lay the ball off straight into an overload, that is all in their favour.
Now we don't have to play like Coventry or Liverpool or Fulham...we could...blah blah
But the whole point is we need a plan , we need rehearsed patterns of play
We don't have that and that's not good enough for the championship or any level of professional football

Everything Stoke aren't, yet only finished 2 points above Stoke after 46 games. You are right , that it is literally factually correct,,that Coventry finished 2 points ahead of stoke and a lot of points behind Fulham. I think what is being alluded to on here ,is that this is because , Coventry don't get the same quality of final ball that Fabio carvalho and Harry Wilson give Fulham and the same movement in the box that mitrovic gives Fulham. Basically if Coventry could improve their final ball and movement in the box, their game is creative and they could do well. Granted that is not easy as carvalho, Wilson and mitrovic cost Fulham big money and wouldn't come any cheaper to Coventry. Nevertheless their game is good and even small improvements in their final ball and movement, would see them moving up the table. So , reasons to be cheerful... Stoke's problem is we don't have a game ,or a plan or even a pattern of playing. Hard to find, reasons to be cheerful there !

Good points, but I'm assuming the opening post is based on seeing what - 45 minutes of Coventry? Watch 46 Coventry games and they would've been as 'bad' as us for much of it. That's the Championship. We're not far off being a good team ourselves.

Pass and move, creating/running into space, the ability to make a simple pass and the ability to trap/control a football. You know the stuff that a half decent coach instils in footballers.

I commented during the game that this was like our first season back down (and still somtimes now), where a young, well drilled, limited team whose players at best I barely new, turned up at the Brit and wanted it more, were a lot fitter than us and were often therefore better and got something from the game. Coventry did that on Saturday and should have been out of sight by half time.
Personally I'd take playing like they did, rather than that plodding aimless shite we're having to put up with. Young fit players playing on the front foot please.
Other than passing it sideways and back to the keeper, has anyone any idea what our game plane is? I've no idea despite watching us week in week out.
And credit to them for wearing their proper strip too. Something else we should do more often, but don't.
