I was at one concert at Bingley Hall around that time when the supporting band were repeatedly booed but carried on until the lead singer was hit in the face by what appeared to be a full beer can. Can't remember the band's name or who they were supporting, possibly Thin Lizzy or Boston. |

Saw Snafu supporting Status Quo in the mid 70s. Honestly, I actually did, New Bingley Hall Thanks for posting this Dave. I remember seeing them then as well but couldn't remember who they were supporting. I was at one concert at Bingley Hall around that time when the supporting band were repeatedly booed but carried on until the lead singer was hit in the face by what appeared to be a full beer can. Can't remember the band's name or who they were supporting, possibly Thin Lizzy or Boston. I wanted to post about this yesterday but resisted. I saw Snafu supporting Status Quo (previously known as World of Twist?) at Trentham Gardens, possibly 1973 on the 'Hello' tour. The Quo always seemed to have great opening acts and Snafu were no exception. In those days the stewards somehow used to get everyone sitting down on the floor to start with (can you imagine that happening now) but by around three songs in everyone was up on their feet and bouncing around. I subsequently bought their first eponymous album and still have it to this day. I'm pretty sure they opened with Long Gone which I would always request at any rock disco I went to in the 70's (if you've heard it before it might be my fault  Micky Moody from Snafu went on to play lead guitar for Whitesnake... and that's all I have to say about that. I still think Snafu is more of an acronym than a word though and can't be put in the same category as words like Laser and Radar which have been widely adopted into the English language. Keep your eyes peeled for FUBAR making an appearance soon |
