His hold up play looked good 🤷♂️ Took the disallowed goal really well too. Thought the same. Linked up play nicely too (see the second goal)

John Major is 13/2 to score first goal against the Swans. A tempter for a small wager. Josh maj-ic Can't see John major getting a look in atm, not a great track record of holding #10 Yeah but he did leave number 10 with a good set of economic figures for profligate Gordon Brown.

I thought he looked a class act, considering his obvious lack of match fitness. Little worried he looked poor in the sir, in fact didn't even challenge for many.. given time though will be a very aqquisition.

Really don’t know what to make of him. He’s been excellent today but woeful in equal measures. Mixed as to whether we give him a contract. On todays performance yes.

Will it cost us 3.5 mil to give him the contract? I thought he was good today, nice ball for the goal, held it up well enough but never seems a goal threat.

More the small matter of giving his club £3.5M, no? That figure was on the (in retrospect laughable) condition of us going up I think. He might be up for another loan spell as a way of them recouping wages. He's played ok for us but not exactly set the world on fire enough for other clubs to be queueing up - and Bordeaux are done with him I think.

I'm not a big fan and if he's going to cost 3.5 million then its a no from me.

He seems to care about performing well, he is improving with his control, he just needs to get into more threatening spots and to provide goals. £3.5m is the agreed price, but we may be able to negotiate down due to his output at this level.

I think this is what you want really, clearly a decent footballer but isn't tearing up trees currently. Might be able to get him for a better price, which I'd take as we're yet to see the best of him.

Biggest concern for me is that he’s got a lack of pace but his overall game is decent. Hard to judge him on his finishing because we’ve barely created any chances for him.

Bottom line I wouldn't pay money for him nor have him as one of the higher earners. Others see something in him that I just don't. If it would mean a continuation of MON's handling of Campbell I think I'd rather pass.

Nearly always a loan fee Lots of clubs wanted him so either way it's not free High earner? He would have been on buttons at Sunderland, won't be on big money at Bordeaux Can we get better for the money it would cost us? €3.5m with average Championship wages, if that's our striker budget then it won't be an exciting pool we will be fishing in

I'm still not sure, if he'd have banged in a couple more goals I'd have been more up for him signing.
I'd like to see him on another loan first before we considered spending 3.5m on him

I’d settle for another Jacob Brown type player around the same price bracket we paid, no chance at all I’d pay more than 500k for Maja, we need goals and I’m afraid he’s not that player.

In the new normal it's a big fee for a championship club.

www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/birmingham-city-stoke-fulham-bristol-23776966Birmingham City are keen on rekindling their interest in several former transfer targets when the window opens in the summer. The Sunday People claims Blues still want to bring Kasey Palmer and Josh Maja to St Andrew’s having attempted to lure them in January. Maja did swap clubs in January but opted for a loan move to Stoke City from parent club Bordeaux. The forward has scored twice in 17 games for the Potters and after some difficult times was clapped off in Saturday’s win over QPR. The 23-year-old also has another year left on his contract, a deal he signed with the Ligue 1 outfit after he joined them from Sunderland in January 2019. Stoke have an option on a permanent deal and are expected to negotiate to try to keep him.

We'd have to be favourites over the bluenoses - I can't think we'd pay 3.5m but who *would* spaff that much? Bordeaux would like to save wages we could pay a bit of them at least? Loan I reckon.

If we are going to buy him, another loan with a reduced option at the end seems most appropriate. That’s certainly the crap we’ve been fed in the past anyways. I personally don’t think he’s good enough or the right type of player for us. We need a target man, especially with Fletcher worsening every day.

But currently looks as likely as Fletcher to score. Even when Fletch is on the bench..
