Right now, starting front four should be Fletch with the double barrelled boys either side and Powell in behind at no.10. Next season, if we can get Tye revved up in pre-season, he would take one of JPB/Fletch's spot. I'd love to see soon: Bursik Wilmot THB Jagielka Tymon (with licence to attack, and the other three switch across) Baker Allen DWP Powell JPB Fletcher An interesting side, Jezza. I can see the logic of your front 4 - I'd expect Fletcher to be subbed (by Campbell?) in most games on or soon after 60 minutes. I really think Fletcher hasn't got the minutes in his legs to play 90 minutes very often. I'd be worried about Tymon as a full back rather than a wing back. Defending isn't his game. In attack he certainly gets some good crosses in when he gets past his defender. But, for me, he doesn't get past his defender as often as he should. I get fed up with the number of back passes he plays in the second half from positions where earlier in the game, he was beating his man and putting crosses in. Has MON ever played Doughty as a full back as opposed to a wing back? If he hasn't he should probably give it a try as Doughty for me looks a more complete player than Tymon.

I'd be looking for JPB to play on the left with Campbell on the right until the end of the season. Campbell's hold up play/touch just isn't good enough atm, especially if he's playing as a lone striker.

Agree with Doughty comments. Suspect there is a lot more to come if given the opportunity. Exciting times all in all. (Cue a 2 -0 stinker Vs Cov.)

I just don't think we'll see a back four anytime soon as the new signings seem to point to a preference for some combination of 3 at the back. If he wants to play with 2 wide men I think that's more likely to be in a 3.4.3

Doughty looks a much more rounded player than Tymon, trouble is Tymon is one of the manager's favourites.

Doughty never looks as if he really wants to be here, perhaps he hasn't settled in the area, can make a big difference in how a player performs.

Doughty Fan Club member here. Tymon deserves his place LWB for the time being. Could be worth trying Doughty RWB cutting in. He's definitely got way more pace than Smith. Hoping O'Neil isn't going to sell him in his January sale. Would like to see him given more of a chance.

While in possession that could be ok but defending playing on your weaker foot could be suicide...square pegs in round holes springs to mind.

There are players (Griffin being an obvious example) who appear to be able to defend as well on their "wrong" side as their "right" side. Doughty may be one of those players. He likes a pot shot at goal so he would probably enjoy cutting in when he was attacking. I'm sure I have also seen him put in a decent cross with his right on occasions. If so he'd be ideal as a RWB - providing that he can defend on that side. So, unless MON has discussed it with him and KNOWS he can't defend on his wrong side, it has to be worth a try.

Didn't he play (come on) on the right at Fulham away? I think I was watching through my fingers by that point anyway, so may be wrong. And, even if he did, it was probably one of MoN's late, late decisions (too late to make any difference / show what you could do). Edit: Thanks lord, you confirmed while I was typing Maybe I should delete the "late" comments though?

He had a little cameo at Fulham, but they had essentially shut up shop and didn’t really care for scoring by the time he came on. It does seem though that with our attacking options now, he’s going to be waiting until next year for a proper run in the team, unless Tymon gets injured etc. Personally I would play him on game 3 in a 3 game week. Tymon is getting back into form but he covers a lot of ground and inevitably isn’t as good in the third game.

The full backs are an issue as neither Smith nor Tymon are at their best defending as full backs, yet neither Wilmot nor Fox give us enough going forward from that position. As Nick can drop a bit deeper out of possession it can become 433 to bolster the middle.

I'm not convinced he's a LWB never mind right. If he did play i'd prefer it to be on the left of a front 3

I would always accommodate Powell, but as I said I can't see him playing 4 at the back. so personally I would(and I think O'Neill will) Play 3.4.1.2 or 3.4.2.1 with 1 or 2 'number 10's' . If we need to chase the game, we could switch to a 3.4.3 to accommodate 2 wide men.

Yup, so we would only ever play one of DWP/JPB in a 3412 or 3421, as Powell is surely a nailed on starter when fit, and we'd continue to rely on Smith and Tymon for width (for now).

Wasn’t impressed with his cameo today tbh. Wanted to do too much. Made some poor decisions seemed to just run in to trouble.
But… he’s only young so it all comes with training. I’d probably say wright Phillips is the more promising of the 2 and I’m glad he’s ours

I thought he had more energy than any other Stoke player, maybe felt he had to do too much but at least he had a shot in his cameo, albeit over the bar, but it’s more than any other striker managed. He will score goals.

How much has he trained with the team? He probably barely knows all their names. Give him chance to settle in before judging him.

Didn’t come off for him tonight but had no problem with him trying to do something positive every time he got the ball.
About the only player to show any kind of bravery on the ball.

I can't believe people are slagging off one of the best young talents in the Premier league.
We could sign Salah and he'd look wank in our set up.
