Some of them say within five years Russia will try to invade all of Sweden. Our new responsible Swedish female concerning food supply et cetera are going for fuel and food for the animals if the crisis comes, the former representative supported food for the Swedes. So when the russians invade us the animals will survive. Excellent! If Trump gets in you should be worried. I don't see Trump stepping in to help, I can see him pulling all support for Ukraine and letting Putin do what he wants. Trump will be more focused on taking over the US.

Trump will be more focused on taking over the US. I would never lay my life in the hands of Trump. If democracies agree then they need to move away from relying on the US for fuel and weapons. Developing independent jets so we don't have to buy F-35s and their equipment. Could see Putin doing a little invasion of the Baltics or even part of Finland and Trump (or whichever Supreme Leader follows) banning US export of parts and ammunition to keep European jets flying. Wouldn't be an obviously dumb move for the Nordics, Poland, Ukraine, Taiwan, S Korea, Japan etc to start working on nuclear weapons programs.

Never heard of any Baltics plan. But who knows? Everything maybe stops sooner or later and no more wars for 150 years or so.

Russia is starting to roll out some of the worlds finest military hardware, from the 60’s 🤣 They've had some really old shit since last year! T-54/55s and BTR-50s from the 1950s. The Maxim guns amazed me. Word War I machine guns that both Ukraine and Russia have wheeled out. The gunners seem to think they're alright.

Two bits of bad news recently.
Avdiivka Russia broke through in the NE of the city, behind the main fortresses. This could be very very bad if Ukraine doesn't have the reserves and ammo to push them back out.
Republicans aligning with Putin The Republican leadership in the House of Representatives demanded Biden give them a border deal in exchange for Ukraine aid. Biden gave them a deal, and now they decided to kill it.
Republicans think that if they can help worsen the US-Mexico border issue, it'll help Trump in the election. So they've killed the deal and they're still refusing to help Ukraine.
Basically all the stuff about the US border was a lie. They want the genocidal dictator to win.

The Avdiivka situation is now looking very bad.
Putin sensing a victory here wouldn't have been possible without two major groups stepping up for team dictatorship: Republicans stabbing Ukraine in the back and Kim Jong Un stepping up with an estimated 1.6 million artillery shells.

New satellite pics show Russia has ~3k self propelled guns (SPGs) and 6.8k towed guns left in artillery arsenals. That's about half of what they started with, obviously they ran into shell problems already, the barrels are less of an issue. Basically they're switching to older/worse/lighter artillery, but they have enough guns to go comfortably into 2025. Some positive spin: - some SPGs use special barrels no-one has built in 30+ years. About 500 SPGs will probably sit around uselessly. - 600 are 130 mm guns, Russia hasn't built them in 50+ years and doesn't make the ammo. - 2,000+ are believed to be World War II M-30 guns, way shitter than anything else they have. - They only have about 400 barrels left for their best, the MSTA series. It's the only gun they've built new in the last 30 years.

Biden and Democrats have negotiated a joint deal with Senate Republicans, doing a lot to control the US-Mexico border in exchange for money to replenish US army stocks and send aid to Ukraine.
Right now it looks like House Republicans are planning to kill it.

Yes, they've entered part of the town on the north east side, not looking good, at least the resistance there has given Ukraine time to build a good defensive line outside the city to the west in case of a quick withdrawal.

2 years in to this war now. What’s the medium term outlook mrstudent? Dunner trust me on predicting shite mate ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/kwfoKwtHI0jglJZ4qZf6.gif) It's looking bleak right now, Putin's making some gains because Kim Jong Un and US Republicans have thrown in with him. Russia has a window to try and crack Ukraine now, because: - Republicans are strangling US aid and it'll be another 6 months before European factories are going fast enough to lift Ukraine's firing rates - F-16s are delayed, and russians are dropping hundreds of huge bombs a week. - Kim Jong Un seems to have sent them 1.6+ million artillery shells. That's like a whole year of russia's production. - Ukraine has delayed mobilising, so there's a troop shortage now. It could go any way but my suspicion is that russia will grind forward and take another little bite of Donbas for massive casualties. I was spot on in predicting that there would be a huge russian push before Putin's election, but I have a prediction I'm less sure about. I think russia has saved up enough to have a hard go before the US election, because russia thinks American voters will be more likely to support Trump if they think Ukraine can't win. If Ukraine holds and mobilises, then Democrats win 2024 and European support continues then Putin's fucked and 2025 will be brutal for russia. If Trump wins but European support continues, then the most likely thing seems to be that it'll take years after that to grind things out and decide.
It's hard to predict game changers. Without Kim Jong Un and the Republicans, Ukraine would have been getting fire superiority at the end of this year and things would look a lot better. Will there be other big political changes?

News from Avdiivka just gets worse.
It's getting close to the south of the city being cut off. Ukraine has a big choice to make about whether to hold it whether to abandon the city soon. 😢
There's a chance they can counter-attack and hold for longer but the ammunition situation is desperate. It could be 5+ months before Europe is able to supply enough ammo.
The republicans did this.

A lot of Europe has stepped up but too slowly. There was some real naivety and democracies suck at situations like this. Assuming no factories explode or something, the EU+UK should make more shells than Russia in 2025. Unless Russia slows down, they'll run into problems with how many tanks and BMPs they've got by then too. Right now is one of the worst times for Ukraine. There's a clear path to victory IMO but it's needlessly long, bloody and expensive because the West was too slow.

Ukrainians are desperately fundraising for drones to try and make up for the shells republicans are blocking.
Later in the year, European supplies should increase 100% and give Ukraine some breathing room. But right now it's so, so hard.

Tucker Carlson is going to interview Putin.
MAGA is fully on board with boosting genocidal dictators.
Pushing propagandist interviews of Hitler or Goebbels would have been bad in the 1930s or 1940s for the same reason.

Zelenskyy has replaced Supreme Commander Zaluzhnyi with Syrskyi.
The troops seem to love and trust Zaluzhnyi.
There is widespread hatred and dislike of Syrskyi, he's considered a wasteful idiot.
But Syrskyi has more political support among Zelenskyy's advisors.
Zelenskyy might have lost the war today, unless Syrskyi has learned or the reports from soldiers are wrong.

There were funny memes about russian "cope cages" on tanks but we've come full circle.
The cages don't seem to stop a Javelin or artillery shell, but almost all Russian attacks on Ukrainian artillery nowadays are from "Lancet" drones. So charities have been fundraising to build cages to stop the drones.
Ukrainian gunners say they have really helped. Multiple Krabs ($5m vehicles) have been saved.

Russia damaged a couple of HIMARS, looks minor.
Just four of these trucks massively swung the war in 2022.
The republicans will probably try to cut off ammo and replacements because they've been so effective at defending democracy.

Avdiivka looks worse by the day, russians are within hundreds of metres of the only remaining proper supply road to most of the city, and there has been fog recently so Ukraine's drones don't work as well.
Ukraine is desperately short of ammo thanks to the republicans, and russians have shiploads from North Korea.
The scariest thing is that Zelenskyy might have ordered the army to try and hold the city despite being nearly surrounded. The rumours are all over the place but some of the best units in reserve are being sent somewhere. If they go to avdiivka and fail to push the russians back it could be a costly disaster.
On the other hand, if the republican-north Korean tag team is only able to deliver Avdiivka before things stabilise again, then that'd be a lot less than Putin, Trump and Un are hoping for.

They have been doing for weeks before you flag it. Rumours that Poland are going to invade Northern Ukraine and take back lands which they consider Polish where ethnic Polish are living Yeah, rumours made up by russians and then pushed by the kremlin to try and divide people. Russia knows their army will be ground to dust if western support picks up again, so *everything* they do has to be to persuade the West to surrender. Russia's army can't win against the sort of support Biden etc plan to send. I have you got over there and joined the foreign brigade yet,?. How is this dust remark going,?

Ukraine are now conscripiting 16 - 70 year old males. They are also trying to get wife and husband teams to go to the front line. Russian troops recently caught a squad of Ukrainian soldiers that were all women one was pregnant Do you think russia is being honest when they said they shot down 4 Ukrainian jets today? I find it suspicious they announce 4 the day after Ukraine claims 3. And also after they already announce they've destroyed every Ukrainian jet 2-4 times over. I don't believe any of them, do you believe the Ukrainians
