It really was. Comfortable saves that any goalie should be making bar the one on one which was excellent. Bad finishing was the order of the day yesterday for QPR yesterday. Rubbish. Positioning is the key to any good goalkeeper and maybe they were straight at him because he was in the right place. You only have to look at Pickford's positioning for Salah's first goal the other night. His poor positioning made it easier for Salah. The header first half was a cracking save and wasn't straight at him. The 1 on 1 was a cracking save. The penalty was a good save. It was a poor penalty but if he had dived the other way it would have gone in. I find it bizarre to rate him lower because he didn't do things that didn't actually happen in the game. They were regulation saves in regulation areas. Pickford is dogshit so I expect nothing less.

Ranked 12 out of the 32 Championship keepers for shot stopping who have faced at least 20 on target attempts in 2021/22. (JB is 27th). Has saved around 5% more attempts than you'd expect for an average keeper. AD's pre save positioning has been generally good, which (surprise, surprise) makes the saves he has made appear "easy". Excellent decision making for his two key saves on Sunday. For the penalty, stayed central, legs spliting a line from the penalty spot to the goal line, then took a forward power step when it became apparent which side the pen was going. That greaty extended the potential length of his dive. Comfortable save (but 90% down to Davies' pre shot routine). Impeccable save choice for the 1 on 1. Rapid engagement plus block rather than smoother, which gave him some protection against the player trying to go high. Amongst the top 5% for individual keeping performances in the Championship this season. Really interesting and I think who takes the number one jersey is one of Micks biggest decisions for the rest of this season. On one hand, I'd be loathe to see Bursik stagnating on the bench when he's back to fitness. He's clearly highly thought of in the England set up and his development here could be key to us making some big brass to reinvest in the squad in the medium/long term. On the other the hand the stats suggest, somewhat surprisingly for me I have to say, that Davies would be the clear choice for our short term goals.

You missed the 1st half header into the bottom of the corner which davies dived down to save then? That was a better save than it looked. Bursik would have watched it go in whilst waving his arms about at the defenders. I think the complete opposite, it looked a more impressive save than it was. In real time I couldn’t believe he’d kept it out, but watching it back you realise he just had to clock that it was travelling very slowly, and with a bounce to give him time to get there. Davo had a good game but as usual things get blown way out of proportion with our goalies.. he had a number of smart saves to make, and he made them well, but it’s certainly true that if any of them had squirmed past him then he’d have been quite badly at fault. They were saves that were there to be made - although the point about positioning is a fair one and he gets credit for that. The truth is that what made Davies’ performance stand out was that he did everything he had to do competently, whereas ordinarily we expect mistakes from him. But long may it continue while he’s the only choice we have.

Keepers are coached not to catch nowadays so I wouldn’t really be critical of him for that in itself

If there was a thread that proves Bayern is a cock this is it. He talks complete garbage. Ever see Gordon play? Every shot was straight at him and that was because he was the master of his angles. His positioning was the factor that made him the worlds best ever. Now Davies is no Gordon but for this game his positioning was top drawer. 9 out of 10 .

If a player shoots at the goalie, it’s excellent positioning by the latter. Banks was the master of this. I feared the worst before Sunday but grit, determination, no little skill and superb goalkeeping proved me wrong!

Where did that come from ? It should do his confidence the world of good He's shown many a time before last game he's more than capable of being number 1 for a top end champ team. All keepers at any level make the odd mistake, especially those in division 2

Davies must have played a lot of great games in his career. That is why he was appointed team captain in Barnsley’s promotion year. He was also selected that year, in both the league 1 team of the season and the overall EFL team of the season. He’s a good Championship keeper.

Some players are instinctive and they naturally seem to know where to be, Stein was a master of predicting when and where to run/go.

Ask any qpr fan who they thought was motm, where credits due needs to be given. Though if he messes up next week I'll be the one that's moaning.
