Do some people wake up every morning with the thought that they want to make everyone miserable? There must be a collective noun for people like that. OS. Stoke fans I think are called young Michael. I think the collective term is a misery of Stoke fans. When we win we get the...I'm too fat for the tiny concourse moans or my pie wasn't hot enough etc. I think Mike Pejic was cloned to make them.

The OP has a point. Just because a person is good at kicking a football*, and learns how to tell others to do it, it doesnt follow that he is automatically an astute business person with financial acumen. Hyaduck is right -we need to bring in someone else to spend the manager's money. My shortlist would include Christopher Lillicrap (proven track record), The Man who played the boy of Kes in the film Kes but is now grown up into a man (has had many hard lessons in gambling and how to take penalties) or Karren Brady *used to be kicking and heading a football, but heading is now banned. as is touching When you say 'finacial acumen' don't you mean (1) the ability to identify talent and (2) the ability to assess value. Both are football judgements that an accountant would not be able to assess unaided.

A list of free players at the end of the season that are better than what we have is a poor reply? Go on….. I mean in Fletcher and Vrancic he’s shown he can get better in for free too. So first, we’ve seen ourselves that the list provided is often wrong. Second, many will likely be given new contracts before the end of the season, so won’t be on a free.

Our best signings in the last 5 years have generally been frees. MON has just carried that tradition on. The lack of standards is appalling really. You shouldn’t be signing players for 2 million quid when you haven’t got a pot to piss in and hope they come good. It’s bad recruitment.

I really don't want to sell Harry, but for £20M+ I really think it's too good to turn down. In todays market you can definitely bring in quality players for less than £2M, so even if we can't replace him completely we can spend the money wisely so we all in all improve the team anyway. We should also try to install a sell-on clause in the contract, and hopefull also some add-ons. Anyway, we can't risk to copy the mistake we made when Arsenal wanted Butland for £19M.

Do you write anything else on this board? Do you have anything remotely positive to say about Stoke? When we play well I do, West Brom and Swansea away for example, most of the games we’ve won this year we’ve been lucky and the ones we’ve lost we’ve been poor. The manager is out of his depth is my opinion. Most of the games we’ve won we’ve been lucky? We’ve won 6 in the league, so 4 of those at least we were lucky? Reading - I can’t judge didn’t watch so I’ll give you that just as a handicap for your bullshit theory Swansea - one of the best performances since relegation, no luck Forest - won 1-0 but it was always a matter of when not if we’d score Huddersfield - I think we were fortunate in that one Hull - they played decent but we had two moments of premiership quality and they had none, so that’s not luck West Brom - it’s lucky for wba we didn’t win by far more So that’s 4 games we deserved to win and 2 games (giving you reading which might’ve been deserved too) I think you need to learn the definition of “most”. Then you have cup games where, ok we rode luck at Watford but we were hardly lucky in beating the lower league teams. And let’s also just conveniently forget the Preston/Barnsley games, as well as the two most recent away losses where we were winning 0-1 and dominant. Hardly fully deserved losses. I think your post is so outrageous that I struggle to imagine you’re not just a troll.

How many signings have we made since MON arrived? I'd guess at 20, maybe 25 with loans. You'd think law of averages there would have been 3 or 4 unqualified successes but its hard to come with even one. I don't think you can park it all at MON's door though. I guess TS and others have a voice too and we hired that wonder waif tech savvy some time journo blogger from Millwall as 'Head of Recruitment ' didn't we? His loans have been better than when’s he paid money out

Right, but until you know which ones actually are, you can’t make the claim that those remaining are better than what we have.

I think we can.

First and foremost, I'd certainly hope we wouldn't expect anything less than £25M!!! As for who O'Neil spends it on.... None of his signings thus far have been anywhere near a "rock the city" type signing, even for the Championship!!!

I don’t think you’re even being harsh there either. At the end of last season Fox was for me his best signing. Vrancic I think would top that now. I like Fletcher and Fox but both are injury prone. Don’t think he’s made a good loan signing yet. Yes Fletcher and Vrancic both undeniably have talent, I suppose the qualification there is actually getting them out on the pitch in some condition where they can show it.

Was speaking with a Hearts fan today who mentioned we were after Harry's brother in January who will be out of contract at the end of the season, says he's a cracking player, said he he will be replacing Harry. He used to play in the same team as Moyes at Dunfermline
