An anti-capitalist café in Toronto where patrons would pay what they can has shut down after a year in business after failing to make enough money.
Owners of The Anarchist, which opened in March 2022 and had been described as an 'anti-capitalist, anti-colonial cafe, shop and radical community space on stolen land,' said the coffee shop will close its doors on May 30.
'Unfortunately, the lack of generational wealth/seed capital from ethically bankrupt sources left me unable to weather the quiet winter season, or to grow in the ways needed to be sustainable longer-term,' owner Gabriel Sims-Fewer wrote.
Sims-Fewer ended his announcement to patrons by writing: 'F*** the rich. F*** the police. F*** the state. It’s very sad mate and as always I ask where’s their parents and what must they think. I’m not sure what the answer is but somewhere we’ve lost our way in relation to common decency. Social media has a lot to answer for when getting likes or hits overwrites the ability to do the right thing. |

He's now being noticed by far bigger youtubers, who are making people aware and calling him out for being an absoute dick (whilst also questioning why the fuck the UK police and legal system haven't done anything, considering he records and displays all the "evidence" any court would need publicly)
As some in the comments point out, if he tried doing these "pranks" in some countries outside of the UK, he simply wouldnt be around anymore.

Agreed. The reason these youtubers are doing it is because whenever his tiktok or youtube account gets susopended, he just sets up another account and carries on. I think they're trying to make people aware so they can report new accounts as soon as the chavvy little prick sets them up so he gets no airtime basically. I think they've relaised that ASBOs mean fuck all to "clout chasers", what really pisses them off more is lack of attention!
If you watch that vid there is one that is particualrly disturbing (dont know if posted before as i cant see the ones posted on the thread about this guy before my post, as they're "Age restricted" and i cant be arsed to set up an account on youtubeso i can verify my age with them tbh).
He approaches 2 or 3 young girls sitting alone on a train platform at night, starts stroking their hair and then asks them repeatedly if they want to die. Having 2 teenage daughters myself, i can understand that they must have been fucking terrified by this prick. It's bad enough ripping up library books etc. for a "prank" but that kind of shit should be dealt with properly.

It’s a very worrying precident to follow if certain members of the public put every assault, sexual offence, theft or burglary as being a “joke.” A jokes only funny if both people find it funny. I’m not sure if anyone remembers “happy slapping” but that didn’t end well for this poor guy. This craze could end up going down the same route. |

Exposure to platforms like Twitter, TikTok etc. only exacerbate the problems further, especially for those who are trying to get treatment.  |
