Just put the manu game on. The only fans you can hear in English grounds now are away fans. They’ve ruined football in this country. Grounds full of tourists, old people and middle classes. They've always been there even at the Vic, well dunno about tourists. I very much doubt more than a handful go to a Stoke game even now. My great grandad never missed a game until his health failed. Seats in the Boothen Stand for donkeys years. Most noise he ever made was opening his hip flask. Most of the old fellas around him were the same old quiet and a bit posh. Never really did get why he was posher than us. I must have been going now for close on 50 years though not to a lot of games until Durban promotion season, never been a noisy fan even as a child or teenager, young adult. Only difference is now all the vocal support is dispersed around in reality not even the entire of the boothen end were vocally loud. I think it's just people who are very vocal in their support seem to think it's what everyone or nearly everyone does and they just don't and never have. Great story mate and fair play to you. Half the problem, I think, is how they mic up the fans. Atmosphere mic’s at some games seem to massively favour the away fans. I noticed the Celtic Feyenoord game was practically a morgue apart from away fans, from supposedly the most vocal supporters in Europe. They’ve won awards you know. Couple that with how shite United and Celtic (champions league) are currently. The europeans are far better organised than English fans and I think that’s partly due to ticket pricing here, and who can afford to attend. Saying that, I don’t believe English fans are die hard anymore. Younger generations rarely leave the house and are absolutely skint, older generations are well, getting too old for it. |

I know it’s a Derby but for gods sake, this can’t be the same league as Stoke play in. The Hunger from Ipswich in particular and their urgent, crisp passing of the ball is light years ahead of our players. Forget who said it but “Football is a State of Mind” is so true. Our Mindset is in the Gutter, obviously.

I think we've been soft. To be fair nathan tried getting into them and they didn't like it, they downed tools for him. A few players would run through walls for him but the majority of senior players couldn't be arsed. We've been a soft touch for FAR too long and players have got away with murder, even in the PL days under Hughes towards the end. |

We don't know how to use the pitch. Ipswich do it brilliantly. We play it forward quickly when there's nothing on. When we have players in space moving forward, we pass it back. I honestly can't believe how bad we were under Alex Neil. There was a passage of play, I think it was against Blackburn, where we moved the ball about 20 yards sideways and it went through 4 players to do so, each stood 5 yards along from the other. |
