Another big cat allegedly spotted in Cheshire as well as recent images captured in Wales. This subject has always fascinated me since I was a kid but sightings do seem to be on the increase. Anybody got any stories to tell ? I have one but I’ll share it later.

I have seen a Big Cat at large in Somerset, from a distance of about 100 yards. It could not be mistaken for anything else. I reported my sighting to a website dedicated to recording and reporting big cat appearances through out the uk and it was literally that, a Website on Big Cat sightings. My contribution was some years ago and last time I looked the site no longer appears to be active. Shame.

I was working in Telford at the time and I was driving home at about 5.30 pm along the scenic route back to Newcastle. On my left hand side about 100 to 150 yards away I saw a large black creature moving very slowly across a recently cut field. It was a lovely sunny summers evening and I slowed down slightly for a better look...it was jet black...it’s belly was very low to the ground and it had a huge tail. I was going to stop but there was a guy in a van close behind me and it was dangerous to suddenly stop as we were travelling at approximately 50mph...I did notice through my rear view mirror that the guy behind was staring into that field too. I’ve told a few people about this and most laugh but I know what I saw...no chance was it a dog...it was definitely a very large cat.

I remember someone who was absolutely convinced he saw a 'panther' up Mow Cop. Turns out it was lambing season...

Our cat is massive.
He's about the size of a large toddler or an average dwarf.
I've been trying to physically compare him to either of those for years but I can't find any toddlers or dwarves willing to wear the cat costume I had specially made for such a task.
If anyone knows anybody who can help me out then please PM me.

I used to know a bloke who was a dwarf, always remember him telling me about the time he got pickpocketed. I don't know how anyone could stoop so low.

Jokes aside. I can see this happening. Im not try to compare it to much to birds but there are so many different species of birds poping up in various places yes i know they can fly but its getting more frequent.
I guess with sadly more private zoo's popping up there is a chance of escape. Or even more sad maybe some people get hold of a big cat but eventually cant handle it so let it go.
If they got into the countryside say then it would just try and survive i guess.
What im trying to say is yes. Maybe people have seen big cats before. Warmer weather also affecting things.

To introduce further variety to the thread I would like to add that we currently have unusual sightings of an Arctic Walrus on tour in the Bristol Channel. So far it has visited Tenby in South Pembrokeshire and at the moment is in the area of Padstow in North Cornwall.
We think it's lost!
Edit. I'm impressed with that Cat, above.

Isn't it strange that in this age of most people having a smart phone that all the pictures are crap?
Plus they always appear to be more than 100 yards away.

Too far away to be entirely sure exactly what it was, but if it was a domestic cat then they’re putting steroids in the Whiskers.

Somerset is of course famous for the legend of the "Exmoor Beast", which has generated persistent sightings for nearly 40 years now, since the early 1980's, and could well be related to an established colony.

I saw a big black cat on the outskirts of a village in Oxfordshire in January 2004. There had been a reported sighting in the area in 1998 by a delivery driver at 4am.
I was walking the dog and saw it walking along the middle of a large ploughed field about 200 meters from me towards some woodland.
People often compare them to the size of Labradors, but this was far far bigger. If you see one you'll know.
At the time I was working with a lad I know who lived in the same village who's dad was a farmer. I was hesitant to tell him what I'd seen thinking he would take the piss, but when I told him he kept the straightest face and said "yes my dad has heard a couple of farmers who had sightings of the same".

I was told by a good friend who at the time worked at Leek Police Station, they had regular people coming in to report a male walking on the moors who mysteriously vanished in front of them.

It's the moonshine they brew up there boy, does strange things to ya.

I believe there are some Lions from Great Britain that will be seen (and slaughtered) in South Africa later this year! Should be a good laugh.

Number of years ago , fortunate to see a Jaguar crossing the road about 30 yards ahead of the car I was in at 4am in the morning , not in the Uk though
I was on the way to the airport from the Das Cataratas hotel in the Iguazu National Park , Brazil
Driver , guide stopped , turned his lights off and it stopped in the middle of the road , we watched it for about a minute in the dawn light ..before it calmly carried on walking back into the forest / jungle ..its movement confident and silky smooth ..he told me I was really lucky as he’d only seen one 3 times in the wild previously..magnificent huge animal
