Any console / PC. What are your favourites?
For me, I’ve got the following:
Crusader Kings 3 Valheim Anno 1800
I also picked up Kingdom Come Deliverance for £6 a couple of weeks ago. Fuck me, what a game that is. For me, it’s the top of the list by a long way just in terms of being a properly deep RPG and completely immersive.

Probably Titanfall 2 I could pick it up and replay it anytime (might install it on my PC later and give it a blast) for the market dominated rinse and repeat shooters this is the pinnacle. The level designs are perfect not two feel or play the same, the interaction with the Titan is spot on.

What are the best third person games?
I've never really got on board with First Person Shooters, I've never been in to COD and never owned a version and I've spent the last 12 months playing nothing but Warzone, I did once own a Battlefield which I did enjoy but for me third person games the best.
Growing up on Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Silent Hill etc. More recently I've loved the Uncharted series.
I'm ready to immerse myself in to another great third person style game with a great story, characters and something that will take me a while to complete.
Any recommendations?

Assassins creed odyssey and ghost recon wild lands have been two really enjoyable third person for me. Odyssey that much I started red dead redemption 2 the same week as I had assassins creed and I went back to creed to 100% it before doing red dead. Red dead it a wonderful game as well but I felt it was a bit too big but not open enough, I don’t know if that makes sense but it was how I felt.

Red Dead on paper is my ideal game but for some reason I've never actually got round to buying it.

For single player console games you can't go wrong with Red Dead Redemption 2. Starts off a little slow & rather linear (You basically spend the opening chapter in the snow learning how the game works) but once you land at Horseshoe Overlook near the town of Valentine the game really opens up. You can spend (in game) days at a time roaming around doing 'stuff' & have the time of your life without going anywhere near any of the story missions... And that really is the way to play the game, sure you can just go from story mission to story mission & it's still a great game but you miss out on so much, there are so many events & side quests & conversations that help to flesh out the characters & fill in parts of the story. Spend time (lots of it) just hanging around at the camp drinking & talking to the other gang members, if someone wants you to go hunting with them or whatever, go with them. Go back & visit towns you haven't been to in a while, who knows what might have changed or what might happen. Great game.
For online multiplayer there's really only two choices, Fortnite or Valorant (They're both free aswell!) Fortnite is still top dog but if you're new to it you're going to find it hard. You'll start off in 'bot lobbies' where you'll be matched up with a handful of other new players & a bunch of AI, you'll shoot some of them, more than likely win a couple of games & think you're doing pretty well... Then you'll get chucked into the real lobbies where people will build over to you, box you up, edit on you & shoot you before you've even realised what is going on. The skill gap in Fortnite is like no other game I've ever played, go on Youtube & watch vidoes of young English kids like Mongraal or Benjyfishy playing in FNCS or Dreamhack & you'll see what I mean.
Valorant is another great game, small maps, 5v5, a combination of precision gunplay & special abilities. It'll take you a while to get used to it but once you do it's great fun. None of that 'run & gun' shit you get in Warzone, it's all about covering angles, any mistake will be punished as you will get 'one tapped' A LOT. Once you start to learn the maps though, and you've figured out which character & their abilities suit your play style it becomes great fun.

This is exactly what I want from a game, maybe it is time I finally invested. I bought the remake of FF7 (my favourite game of all time) on release last year, I played it for a week maybe two tops but not solidly and I just couldn't get in to it. Once I realised that it only took you to the end of the first Disc of the original too, my interest wained big time. It also didn't help that Warzone was taking over my furloughed life Warzone is becoming unplayable though unless you have a Scuf pad or are just a complete sweat.

This is exactly what I want from a game, maybe it is time I finally invested. It's a really good game, mate. The story is top notch, it proper grabs hold of you. I don't know if you played Red Dead 1 or not (You'll get real different emotions to the game depending on if you did or not 'cos with 2 taking place before 1 you know certain things so it makes you feel certain things about certain people & situations, whereas if you haven't played 1 you wont know those things so you get to experience it in a completely different, but equally amazing way). Honestly the story is fantastic, make sure you have no distractions around you when playing so that you can get properly lost in it. Spend time at the camp, especially after you've done a mission, people will have things to say, either to you or to eachother. Sometimes they'll throw big parties, everyone getting pissed sat around the camp fire singing songs, it's brilliant! (But if you just go from mission to mission you'll miss out on things like that). You can do stranger missions, these can be quite padded out & a lot of them add a ton of information to the main story so make sure you search them out, some only appear in certain places at certain times, for example you might go to a certain town in chapter 2 & nothing is there, you go back to that town in chapter 4 & still nothing is there, but you never went there in chapter 3, and that's when the stranger mission was available..... And without giving any spoilers you'll reach a point where everything that is happening is telling you that you're nearing the end, when you're at this point go out of your way to make sure you've found & completed all the stranger missions. You'll also get random encounters, some can be quite annoying (Like when you're heading off in one direction on a long ride, you stop to help some old lady & you end up having to take her to some other town in the complete opposite direction, and you can't cancel it!) but others can be funny, others again add bits to the overall story that you don't need to do, but will make it better if you do. Sometimes when you finish a mission aswell, one of the gang members might say something like "Well, I'm going to head back to camp, are you coming or staying here?" And 'here' might be exactly where you need to go, it might be a town where you can buy some supplies or whatever, but sod that, say you'll ride back to camp with them instead. Sometimes nothing will happen, other times you'll get some ace little things happen. And even though it is an open world game & you can go off where you please, when you please, I think you'll enjoy it more if you only 'discover' new towns when the game wants you to, so by all means go exploring, but try not to stray too far too fast. Riding into Rhodes or Saint Denis is great the first time, but it's so much more impactful if that first time is when the game has actually sent you there. Anyroad I'm rambling on... As you can tell I really fucking enjoyed the game

I shall look forward to your review of it in a few weeks time To repeat something I said earlier the entire first chapter where you're in the snow is basically a long tutorial, so don't worry if you find it too slow paced or too linear, the game really ramps up once you're out of the snow.

I'm a big nintendo fan. Mario Odyssey, Breath of The Wild, Luigi's Mansion 3 are all great. Breath of The Wild though is the greatest game I've ever played. Oddly, it was also my first ever Zelda game. Can't wait for nintendo E3 in less than 2hrs as they're almost certainly going to be revealing the name and release date of the sequel. Will be gutted if they don't.

Past 5 years?
Bloodborne (I’m squeezing this one in because I want to!) Dark Souls 3 Doom Forza Horizon 3/4 Modern Warfare 2019 THPS 1+2 Clone Hero (free to play Guitar Hero clone with thousands of songs to download) Spider-Man Halo MCC (post patching) Dirt Rally 2.0
Not much of a fan of games like Last of Us or Tsushima so can’t put them in my list.

I do game very differently now (loads more patience for one) so am looking forward to having a bash. One bonus, fired it up to make sure it had downloaded properly and Mrs Md came through and sat down. I said ‘Can I put Sackboy on for you’ and she said ‘No, I’m enjoying watching you play’ Bonus!

How you finding it so far, mate?
