It's a truly great story isn't it, his Mum and Dad seem very decent and grounded and her accent is wonderful. Ben was suspended for the game versus Ecuador the other night and Chile badly missed his work rate up front in the 0-2 loss.

Complete disaster all round really, three key players off before half time, two injured, one sent off. They really didn’t give up though and creditably held it to 0-1 and were looking for a goal until a few minutes from time. They’re still alive, just about..

The daft high footed challenge by Vidal for the sending off didn't help, Chile gave 100% that's for sure but Ecuador had the better chances and it could have been more if Estrada had taken the two good chances he missed. I hope Chile get the play off place at least and hopefully the fourth qualifying spot as the Ben Brereton story needs to continue. I like Ecuador though, they're a bit under rated in CONMEBOL, they're well drilled, organised, got some pace and skill down the flanks and are prepared to do the ugly business when needed. Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Chile and Peru would be my preferred qualifiers but it's wide open.

What a brilliant story! His grandad was a sparky down Florence pit when I worked there. He got killed while he was doing his stuff working on the coalface in No. 3 pit. He was a decent lad and it's a damned shame he couldn't get to see what his grandson has achieved. Gooaaarrrn Ben!

A Blackburn fan I know had a £5 bet on him to score 20 championship goals for Blackburn this season… 500/1

Yeah Blackburn just need to isolate him with Chester at the back stick and he should score. Going to be a very tough game.

Partly because Wilmot had a good game (goal aside) and matched up to him well. B’burn missed a trick not putting him on the other side against Chester, which is what I was expecting

He battled hard but it was difficult conditions for all forwards today.
He’s in the form of his life and he may surprise me and make the next step up but my feeling is he’ll only ever be a really a very good Championship player…..

I don't think he was so much bad today, more like he was well handled by Danny Batth. Batth was,for me, probably one of the very, very few today that came out of the game with any credit.

he needs to get a few more goals before he leaves just to make sure he validates people's bets.
Wonder what Blackburn's identification process has been for forwards recently because it appears to be paying off!
