I say this as someone who's interested in the series as a whole, but with only really a passing interest in Rugby generally...
the rugby has been tedious to watch. Other than the tension of the games, has anyone really enjoyed them as spectacles of sport?

Other than the tension of the games, has anyone really enjoyed them as spectacles of sport? I haven't found the rugby tedious. I don't mind all the up'n'unders - there is more than one way to win a game. I saw that Jonathan Davies (I think) had a right old go about the 'spectacle' and suggested the RFU had to act quickly to try and prevent these tactics from becoming the norm (One idea he suggested ??? was a rule changes to speed up the ball around the ruck to prevent defensive lines from getting set). A load of others are of the same opinion. I don't have a problem with him wanting a more attacking, entertaining game but, for me, I have enjoyed the games so far. We are not going to beat SA if we continue to spill high balls so it is up to us to find another way to counteract their preferred way of playing. I agree with the SA defending their tactics in this piece from the BBC. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/58059514Not a lot we can do about the ref and the TMO. Next ref on Saturday is French so we may get some northern hemisphere interpretations. I am pleased he has bought Williams and Adams in but not so convinced by VdM and Owens starting. No Farrell in the 23 at all which is a bit surprising. At least, he has tried to shake it up which is refreshing - whether we can handles SA in the scrum and at the line out now that they seem to have found their way is the big question.

How the hell has VDM kept his place he was a liability on Saturday. I find it bizarre. He could’ve cost us a lot with his yellow but he just didn’t get in the game at all. Maybe he’ll step up now he’s been given another chance. I think Owens is lucky as well. He struggled with his throws although South Africa were doing well on them.

A first half that lasted almost an hour was ridiculous and I'm still not sure they got the calls right either. Still excited for Saturday though...

An atritional approach to Rugby is normally less shameful than in Football. I am surprised in that case that SA have felt the need to comment at all, it is very unusual to hear a Rugby team defend those sort of tactics, especially them lot. They normally don't give a hoot what is said in the media... to call them Hardfaced would be an understatement!

I enjoy how the games are tense but games against SA are not really fun to watch. Wouldn't recommend to casual fans.

What a farce with that non decision. Comments from the SA coach after the first test cost us.

What a farce with that non decision. Comments from the SA coach after the first test cost us. It's a sad indictment of the current state of international rugby that a one dimensional bunch of gym bunnies are world champions
