Marcus Smith called up to the lions squad.
Won the rugby premier league in his first season, first cap for England last weekend, called up to the lions in the middle of his second cap today.
Some rise.

Lions team to face South Africa: Hogg; A Watson, Daly, Henshaw, Van Der Merwe; Biggar, Price; W Jones, Cowan-Dickie, Furlong, Itoje, AW Jones (capt), Lawes, Curry, Conan.
Replacements: Owens, Sutherland, Sinckler, Beirne, H Watson, Murray, Farrell, L Williams.
... I'm not sure I would've picked that side honestly.

I thought the point of making Murray tour captain was because he was nailed on to start the tests. Although I suppose now that AW Jones is back, it doesn't really matter. All three tests are in Cape town which should benefit the Lions as they won't have to adjust to altitude.

It looks as though there is going to be a South African TMO for this series as they can't fly a neutral one in. Hopefully that won't prove significant.

Having just seen the replacements. I would be happy with any one of them if they need to come on.

I've never been a fan of Lawes starting in the back row for England but hopefully it works tonight.

Is there a free stream anywhere for the game?

I've never been a fan of Lawes starting in the back row for England but hopefully it works tonight. Thought he played well. Felt like the Lions broke S African discipline at one point, that's a hell of an achievement. First disallowed try looked onside to me? Couldn't hear commentary and the rules are way too complicated for me to understand though. I'll take it!

Cracking second half for the Lions. Rode their luck but Itoje was outstanding throughout.

I like him as a player just normally in the second row but glad it came off.

Eddie Jones tends to make "barbed comments" before games aimed at either the referee, or more usually the opposition coach or players. This "Wenger-esque" tirade sounds like Erasmus has completely lost the plot, and the authorities should penalise him. I've never known anyone in his position act as a water carrier during a game either. It'll be interesting to see the response from the referee and match officials during the remaining Tests, hopefully it won't make the slightest difference.

If it does and they start getting the 50/50s then it’ll have been a small price to pay for him. Let’s hope we smash them in the 2nd test.

What a fucking mard-arse, yet the southern hemisphere teams call us whinging. I'd like to win the second test on a contentious decision now just to watch him disappear completely up his own arse.

I thought all the "Rugby types" told us that football should show the same respect to referees as they do in Rugby? I can't say I have ever seen a football manager release a one hour rant about a single game dismantling the entire performance of a referee. Doesn't appear to be much respect being shown to me.

No obvious pro-saffer ref decisions yet I think?
Van de merwe clear yellow. And he avoided a possible one earlier.

That is not a try it was clear he did not have that in his hand from the slow mo. funny that they only looked at the most conclusive angle once. The Springboks are a very unlikeable bunch. Thank god i’ll be travelling back from the Stoke game next week as I think it’ll be more of the same We have been poor today. They need to drop Van de Burghe or what ever his name is next week. He’s been a liability today.

I guess it’s OK if you don’t mind cheating to win.

Proper naive rugby from us second half, penalty after penalty caused by poor decision making pure and simple…..

I thought he didn't ground it properly for the try, but also thought last week the kick through one was onside? Gatland's got his work cut out for next week.
