Oh No! Today is apparently the last "Old Firm" match of the season in Scotland. What will the poor people of Scotland do without their monthly super league derby match between Celtic and Rangers.
On 606 yesterday I briefly heard a bit from Chris Sutton who is STILL going on to anyone who will listen, that Celtic are far more deserving than anyone of being called the "Invincibles"!
I am so glad we live in England and have matches like next weeks Derby v Sheff Wed to enjoy.

I love the old firm games. But the lack of crowds defeats the object of them somehow

I’ve watched this game today - anyone who thinks these clubs couldn’t mix it in the Prem are dead wrong - some impressive stuff I must concede ......oh and Defoe makes it 4 !

With Premier League cash they would be a great draw and would quite easily do well once they'd made the transition. The two clubs are huge......

They would be but it will never happen not least due to EPL protectionism and dollops of nationalism, sectarianism and political reasons generally - ie more trouble (quite literally) than it would be worth - sad really.

Its true it would be an absolute nightmare with hate spewed bile flowing out of Scotland towards anything that is English. But fast forward just a handful of years and they will have no more right to join the EPL than teams from Netherlands Belgium Scandinavia etc etc

No thanks. Last time Rangers played down here in a big competitive game their neds wrecked Manchester.
And I keep hearing that independence is inevitable, so why invite them now of all times? If you support St Mirren or Livingston, how would the Gruesome Twosome playing in England be any different than the Big Six joining a Euro Super League? The Old Firm away support keeps those clubs afloat.
We don't want- or need- the Old Firm down here. Plus Celtic in town would draw out every retired hooligan in England.

Spot on - don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t want it to happen either I just think it sad that it could never be an option because of all of the above. Even a UK wide knockout competition would be out of the question for same reasons - I used to enjoy the home internationals back in the day but would be like starting a war nowadays......
