Clucas only played a small part last season so I really can't see all the fuss about him leaving. I guess we could loan a player for a third of his wages with a much bigger impact on our performances too. I know he can be a good player on his day, but he is getting older and seems very injury prone so to get rid is the right decision as I see it. I suppose the fuss is there if you believe that a fit Clucas playing all last season would have improved us as a team.

A fit Clucas has that ability to create something out of nothing that we missed massively last season. When he came back he was clearly not 100% but as it stands we don't have anyone to fill the hole if he leaves. I wouldn't say he was injury prone, he picked up an injury that day when Boro clearly had a plan and was on the end of a nasty challenge

In his thirties and injury prone, no, I think it's time to get rid if possible due to FFP.

We can save close on £1,000,000 pa by outsourcing Scholes role surely, It’s not as if FFP has suddenly crept up on us, so what did we do we gave him a pay rise but now apparently we’re unable to increase Powell’s salary, utterly disgraceful.

His salary doesn't come under FFP and the board must have sanctioned his pay rise.

Stories playing out in the background are also expected to come to a conclusion, including Sam Clucas and Lee Gregory, who has been attracting interest in the Championship after a decent loan spell at Derby County.

Personally think he brings a fair bit to the team

There's no way we would get rid of Clucas & Allen, if anything Clucas offers more, goals in particular than Allen and I imagine Allen would be on a much bigger wage?...

Sheffield United have wanted Clucas off and on for a while now. Wouldn't surprise me to see him end up there.

I think it's time to let go though! When people put FACT you just can't argue. It's the rules. I Don't get me wrong, I won't be sat in my bedroom staring at my poster on the wall of Clucas, cut out of Shoot magazine if he leaves thinking of what could have been with teary eyes, but don't dislike him like some do.

Certainly a decent player at this level when fully fit, but still feel it's the right decision to let him go. His wages must be sky high if we even can't get some kind of fee for him!

Somebody clearly embarrassed and blown in his ear over the Collins fee but again our PR is atrocious why didn’t we leak £20m as we’ve invited everyone to a fire sale now damage is done . as for clucas this summer is shaping up to plummet new depths of incompetence which is a quite unbelievably low bar .

Do you really think in the real world leaking a transfer amount will be believed by anyone? Not least because we would have to clear it with Burnley and they are not going to agree to it. We had problems previously when we mistakenly released a fee

Sounds like we really are making progress getting players out this summer.
Should give us quite a bit of headroom for a mini rebuild and to extend Powell's contract.

Reeks of the Wimmer fee. Happy to announce it was a record fee at the time then 2 years later at council meeting, they say it wasn't close to that. Seems fishy to me. And all the talk is "could be".

Did the club ever say it was£12m or was it the media guessing?

We know the club fudge it - Wimmer, that's all documented. And we know they'll brief the local media to make it sound positive and they will.
