Little gentle warm up against Arbroath, followed by St Johnstone and then Aberdeen. The perfect summer break to the North East of Scotland...... ..... don not mention “the other team”. I always find it a bit like Macbeth I saw them play away at Cowdenbeath once, nothing else to do on a Saturday afternoon when working up there.

Ive never been to Montrose, so a trip to Links Park would be good. Either that or the new Falkirk stadium as the main stand always looks amazing when you drive past it. There are some proper quirky stadiums in scotland thats for sure. Starks Park ( with its quirky corner and 80% capacity in the stands behind the goals) Glebe Park (as mentioned MONs old stomping ground, set in a lovely park area with a hedge down one side) Somerset Park (a throw back to old standing terraces) Central Park (football and banger racing stadium) The Dundee grounds need to be seen to be believed, as they are only a few yards apart from each other. Could be some good trips if we get the go ahead. Many years ago I went to Central Park to watch Cowdenbeath play, then went back a couple hours later for the stock cars

Vaguely remember they brought a few on the Stoke end and they hand Green and Yellow miners helmets on, things you remember, age against me though.

We played Brechin City and, I think, Dundee Utd, plus a couple of other teams that I can't remember. You are right about the following too, there was a good number of Stokies

I seem to remember one season going to watch us at Carlisle and then a few days later we played Dundee Utd (might have been Hibs though my memory is playing tricks on me)

The more I think about it, I might be confusing two separate tours! I live in the N E of Scotland. I went to the Brechin game, but no other one at that time. If we did play Dundee Utd on that tour, I can't, for the life of me, understand why I didn't go to the game and I only live about 20 minutes drive from Dundee. I'm starting to think that the Dundee Utd game was a different occasion and that I was on holiday at the time, otherwise I'd have certainly gone. We definitely played Dundee Utd at some point, and lost the game, as well.

I'd like to see a match at Arbroath - the closest UK ground to the sea I think? The low standard of opposition in both locations might be an issue. Maybe some other EFL teams will join us, or we'll go on to play some friendlies at home too.

For absolutely no reason I've always wanted to go to Alloa. A Kilmarnock fan once told me it's as rough as a badgers arse mind. Thats rich coming from a Killie fan. Ive worked there and Kilmarnock is a proper rough place, so much so a friend of mine said the town centre is to be avoided after dark. I never did venture there either. I do however recommend the Killie pie as its fantastic. Quite a few rough places up here, but all, bar one, pale in comparison to Cowdenbeath and its stock car racing track. Only East Fife in Methil (basically in the North Sea) can compete with the Blue Brazil when it comes to roughness. Any game up here would be just great for me.

That’s a good one - I hope if it’s Scotland we might make a visit to the Tony Macaroni Arena though ! Livingston’s wonderfully named pile of Lego bricks in the middle of a retail park. Decent little stadium. Been past it many times. Sadly so have I - it always involved taking the Mrs shopping !

Just picked up on this thread as our thoughts turn towards next season. I recognise the reasons for staying in the UK this year, but why is there this emphasis on Northern Ireland and Scotland, and not perhaps Wales? We could happily play teams like Connah's Quay and Aberystwyth and, covid permitting, get lots of matchday support from happy holidaying potters in the North Wales area. Also the squad could be based in Rhyl or Llandudno and the players could have familiar home comforts such as breakfast oatcakes.

Many Managers prefer to either return to old familiar camps or stomping grounds , or return to repay favours to those that helped them on the way up the ladder and perhaps would be more than happy to welcome an ‘old boy’ back , such arrangements tend to make the organising and logistics of problems around such tours , training camps etc run far smoother ..ie if the agent or the CEO can’t resolve a problem , a quick phone call from the manager to his contact often works wonders For clubs to go to areas they have no local knowledge of , or have trusted people there to give them an assessment is always a gamble ..more so at present , pre assessment trips to check facilities etc are unlikely.. so no surprises that he’s looking at NI & Scotland

Probably the level of opposition they could get rather than the Welsh League. I hope we do play over in Belfast, I will need to plan a work trip over there once the covid 19 restrictions lift in late June, and anytime after the 12th July probably
