I swear I heard it a few times - was the ref called Peter Shatlady? Its Peter Shacklady. From Preston I believe and teaches not too far away from where I live. And he's a crap ref from what I saw.

Clearly from the Potteries but as you say a bit odd that he was acting as if he wasn’t. Living away from Stoke I do enjoy hearing him mind.

He’s said something along the lines of “I believe the local delicacy in these parts is the oatcake, ever tried one of those Glen”. And he kept saying Hanley Park instead of Hanley town and then correcting himself as though he was pretending he had no idea.

The accent started to grate too. Murray was good though when he actually spoke.

Cracking game on Satdee - 2-2 v Lichfield. Can’t recommend this enough especially when Stoke aren’t playing or away and you haven’t got a ticket.

Eric Graves has left the club I see , hopeful there is not unrest already emerging. Hope they can get back to winning ways tomorrow.

If Hanley win on Saturday and Boldmere lose, then Hanley are promoted to the 8th tier.
It's free entry and Stoke aren't playing, so get yourself down if you can.
Failing that, Hanley play Boldmere at home on Easter Monday. Big one, and again free entry.

Boldmere have had a few games in hands and only lost once since October, against Hanley of course! Hanley lost to bottom of the league last Saturday, but had a comfortable 3-0 win yesterday.

I never quite understand how they operate at that level. It seems a bit of a lottery if you don’t win the league.

One goes up automatically and then next 5 or 6 go into playoffs I think but only 2 teams promoted. I only know as I’ve done an FM save with Nantwich town.

It would be illogical to place them either in the East division or Midland division.

For those interested but confused like me I just did a bit of checking. Hanley Town play in the Midlands league Premier Division. It is a 19 team league (unusual to have odd number of teams although the benefit is you do get the odd week off during the season.) Hanley currently sit top on 76 points from 33 games. Second place team is Bodemere who have also played 33 games and have 71 points. No one else is near contention with the next best team on 60 points. So with three games to play and a vastly superior goal difference 5 points will guarantee Hanley are champions and even 4 points will do it as long as there aren't crazy adverse scores involved. Hope that helps the curious amongst us.

Some leagues have just one going up too and have play offs and they still might not go up if they win them. I’m sure Leek have been screwed over with that recently.
