It’s Tom Gale Badge. Does a fair bit on 5 live. Clearly from the Potteries but as you say a bit odd that he was acting as if he wasn’t. Living away from Stoke I do enjoy hearing him mind.
I don't know about the acting as if he wasn't bit, he kept going on about Oatcakes!!!
I liked hearing a Potteries accent on the BBC. Makes a change.
He’s said something along the lines of “I believe the local delicacy in these parts is the oatcake, ever tried one of those Glen”. And he kept saying Hanley Park instead of Hanley town and then correcting himself as though he was pretending he had no idea.
For those interested but confused like me I just did a bit of checking. Hanley Town play in the Midlands league Premier Division. It is a 19 team league (unusual to have odd number of teams although the benefit is you do get the odd week off during the season.) Hanley currently sit top on 76 points from 33 games. Second place team is Bodemere who have also played 33 games and have 71 points. No one else is near contention with the next best team on 60 points. So with three games to play and a vastly superior goal difference 5 points will guarantee Hanley are champions and even 4 points will do it as long as there aren't crazy adverse scores involved. Hope that helps the curious amongst us.
